No, she does that without anyone knowing. She accidentally starts a fire down in the AI Core while she tries to gain control over the body and that's what grabs everyone's attention.

Lets say I hope I can avoid this situation. It's just mean because the player can't avoid it - or can s/he? If so, how?
By the way - am I reading this right? Ashley catched a bullet for another guy? So it's more kind of an accident?
The way I understand it, it's similar to Wrex's and Fist's situation in ME1. EDI intentionally shoots without warning A/K as she precieves them as a threat. It should be completely avoidable if EDI isn't in your squad at the time.
That is if this situation is in fact identical to the one in ME1.

Yeah, we already have an admiral like that. Han'Gerrel.
Reegar was being modest. He clearly has a keen mind for politics and for tactics. He'd make a perfect officer.

Does Kal'Reegar know how the processes in a geth platform works if you need to extract data from it? I don't think so.
He doesn't need to know. That is what a techy is for. There is no sane reason to promote Tali to admiral just to have her keep doing her goddamn job. Reegar could actually do something useful as an admiral because he might actually know what he's doing.

Does he know how to hack terminals to access different part of a ship and disable anti-aircraft guns without explosives (and there are such moments in the script, by the way)? I don't think so either.
He doesn't need to. He can order Tali or some other engineer to do that.

Okay, makes sense. In that case I won't have EDI with me in that particular mission. However, BW can take the route you MUST pick EDI and so she'll be in your squad facing Ashley / Kaidan in that particular situation. Is it possible to avoid it?
And how's it possible EDI doesn't consider the VS as member of the crew? After all the VS was on board right after Earth evacuation. (I know the VS gets wounded at some point and leaves the Normandy for a while, but still - it doesn't make sense imo).
By the way, the OP should change the title to CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!11eleven

No, it's actually quite early.
Like...three missions in or so. You can get EVA's body before Sur'Kesh, because Wrex mentions a synthetic and Legion-like dialogue was nowhere to be found, but one sounded a lot like EDI, so...yeah.

Not all of them, as far as I know.

The real funny thing is that Kal is too busy leading strike teams to get tangled up in politics. Sorry.

Yet apparently Tali needs to be an admiral so she can continue hacking geth. That's so ****ing stupid only a Bioware fan would defend the idea.

Like, the second you've solved it all and she's still alive, she quits.
They needed someone to take her father's place on the board and they also needed a geth expert, and Tali was the best they could find. That's all it is. She even acknowledges that she's too young to be a real admiral.

I am an ashleymancer and I find it awesome too, though the Garrus line there seems to have a lot of hate there, he says something like: "She wasn't a soldier, she was a puppet by letting being manipulated" or something like that, don't remember well.darthnick427 wrote...

I did a search and didn't find either of those, but Shepard's dancing and his favorite store on the citadel were mentioned twice each.

You'd think with all of the importance they placed on relationship building in ME2, that your relationships would affect your squad make-up. That would have been the smart thing to do in a game based heavily on "decisions."
I'm just a little disappointed that my team as I've been using them is being reduced back to ME1 numbers, along with temp members.

*sigh* Some of us have been fans since ME1, but clung more to the characters in ME2. It feels like a big middle finger to the fans of the entire series to say, "be careful, your squadmates could die during your important mission, so learn about your characters, gain their trust --we even made several trailers around this theme-- and think like an army preparing for galactic war in order for your crew to survive." then ultimately the entire thing was a farce since Jack, Mordin, and Samara were merely there to keep Ashley's and Liara's seat warm while they were away.

Can hear you. Main issue most story writers run into is to have plenty of characters developed and no idea how to put them into the story. There are simply too many characters in ME2, all of them want to play an important role - but lets face it: half of them are kinda rendundant. There are two "waves" of recruitment in ME2 - the first one before Horizon, the second one after Horizon but before IFF. Place Tali to first wave, cut the second wave and you still would have plenty of decent characters to choose from.
The entire story revolves around gathering people for a suicide mission. That's not much. And most (read ALL) of them kinda "expendable", they can die in that SM.
I would say, as a writer, the staff of ME2 used far too much time to create new characters but kinda missed to make most of them authentic or more than just one-dimensional. Also there is a decent story missing involving the entire staff. The only point in the story were they're working together is the SM and even there not all of them showed their face. With exception of the final briefing any briefing scenes usually involve Jacob and/or Miranda, but none of the rest of the crew. In ME ALL squadmates where in the briefing, even if they had no lines.
Now since all squadmates in ME2 can die in the SM you simply can't make a story for ME3 that uses ME2 characters as driving force. Lets say if you need Miranda for a certain story element that's needed for defeating the Reapers, you couldn't do that element in case Miranda died in ME2. Same for any other character - and that's the only reason why the cast of ME2 won't have any big influence on the story. They might help to raise the "galactic readiness bar", can be used to forge alliances, but you can finish the story without them.
And yes, that's a sad thing for fans of ME2 cast. I'm a fan of both, a bit more for ME1 cast, but still. But I understand why BW can't take any different path here ...
