Well to be fair... ME2 was kind of completely pointless anyway.

Heh, look at that.

Anyway, I don't know if "happy" is the right word (it's a bit early for that), but I'm totally encouraged by the stuff I've read. I don't necessarily like some of the choice-based history or all the character developments as items, but I think it's brilliant that there's as much character development as there seems to be.

I'm very satisfied, so far. And there's no better time for me to finally preorder the thing.

Yes, in regards to characters, I am satisfied. My favourites are all permanent squadmates with fairly large roles, which is good.

I'm with you on this Ash, Garrus, and Liara are my favs. I do wish they would throw Miranda in the mix.

 I...don't know what to think.

The spoilers have been, on teh whole, very comforting.  Though there are some really facepalmworthy pieces to it as
well.  Hopefully I'm either misreading them or they're going to be/have been changed.

The addition of multiplayer has very nearly been a dealbreaker for me as well.  Sure they say it's totally optional.  but there's optional and then there's "optional"

Overall...I dunno.  Can a game be both wonderful and terrible at once?

You are all aware that this was necessary, correct? Having a 20-person squad just isn't feasible; they had to choose some squad members over others. There was never any way to treat them all equally.

Doubtless, but they needed to strike a better balance than they apparently have.

It's more than just screen time.

Believe me.

It's much more than that.

I'm not sure i agree with you that the system had to be implemented the way it seems to have been done. One thing's for certain Tali and Garrus getting elevated above the rest of the ME2 cast is an utter disgrace imo.

I'm happy. Everyone I really liked will be back and in the spotlight (save a few lemons) and I can kill of those who irritate me. Win win.

No, if certain spoilers are in the final product.

I don't find feeling like I've been punished for choosing to like the "wrong" characters emotionally engaging. More like emotional blackmail.

This is about where I am.

And if my guess about the ME2 non-squaddie who becomes an ME3-squaddie, and why, is true (it's amazing how much one can glean from multiple vague hints in multiple places), that's... another thing I'm pretty dubious about, and doesn't speak well for how well BioWare's understanding of their characters and 'verse lines up with mine.

The general lack of consequence for major decisions doesn't make me happy, but it doesn't make me unhappy either, at least (ME2 did a nice job of kneecapping my expectations in that regard, while the DA franchise came in with a 9mm and finished the job, so that's one silver lining).

It's easy to "get it" when your favorites are guaranteed big roles.

For the most part, I feel they handled the possibly dead, possibly romanced characters fairly well.

It's a mixed bag.

There are some really fitting pieces for various characters. Those make me eager.

There are some 'meh' pieces. Not for me, but fine for others. Cool beans.

There are some bad pieces that I hold out hope can be handled better in execution, or might change since the rough draft.

And then there are some really bad tropes and cliches I'm certain will be there, simply because I lack faith in Bioware's past performances. Those are the anti-happy bits.

Agreed. Some I hope get changed in execution (Thane, more for the Udina component than Thane himself), and some I can understand the concerns of others (Jack), but overall the ME2 cameos are well done.

(Besides Tali. Words can not describe my reaction to 'Admiral Tali vas Normandy.'
