I'd say i'm mostly happy, the only thing i don't like is the treatment Liara gets, i mean i like her but Bioware are threating her like she's their mom or something, god forbid something bad happens to her

I don't know enough about ME3 plot to be happy or sad about it, all we have is an old script. But if y'all want to continue waving it around like it is fact go right ahead.

I think you hit the nail on the head with that one...but then really wasn't that the real plotline of ME2...the characters...more time was spent on the recruiting and loyalty missions than on a main plot. And I have to agree with what I've read thus far about ME3...some of it is ooc...I can hear the excuse now..." people change"...didn't they get the memo about Anders...better to introduce a new character to fill the role than to completely alter one that fans have come to love. That was the major problem with DA2...inconsistency...change a little...I can see that...change too much and it's no longer the person you started out with at all.

ME2 was kinda different than what i meant in that the characters stories were the plot points, wheras in me3 the characters arcs are turned into plot points to fit the plot if you get me.

Rather than have a plot point occur naturally, instead its like ok we have character A we'll make them the catalyst for the plot point instead, while this works with NPC's who are basically there to fill that role, in me3 its specifically done for Squadmates also, which would be fine if it made sense, such as Tali or Legion but becomes ooc when its in relation to the VS for example.

The Anders analogy is proof imo that not only do they not listen to the fans whatsoever, but they stubbornly refuse to accept when they make a mistake and instead try to reinforce that its us poor peon's who don't understand that they weren't making a mistake but were creating tension and edginess.

Characters evolve, we all know that, but that evolution should be natural and should be consistent, or when its not there should be a significantly reasonable explanation for it, nothing unfortunately i see in the leaks in relation to certain characters.

@alparez - if what you are referring to is the scene i've read about with the vs, yeah, they pretty much went very OOC considering things previously happened and what they want to have happen in 3.

The problem is that its so OOC that it makes you facepalm, that and the explanation for why it occurs is just ridicolously done, which makes it even worse.

But its not just the scene with the VS, unfortunately it happens with other characters also, but which would go too far into spoiling things.

I haven't seen the exact explanation yet just X believes Y (and for no good reason) and I shudder how I'll react when I finally do...

I haven't seen....okay...yeah, I have, forgot about those two Jacob/Jack. I was kind of hoping it wasn't going to hit *everybody* even if the idiot hammer couldn't miss anyone.

Am I the only one that doesn't really hate anyone and will just play the game as it's dealt. My favourite characters (Garrus, Wrex, Thane, Grunt and Legion) may die, they may not but I'm not going to get funny about it because as engrossing as it is it is a game and you can always replay (about 10 times) anyway.

I'm with ya dude. I like every squadmate I was ever given in the game. tho I will admit i found the aliens more enjoyable since my favs are: Garrus, Wrex, Legion, Mordin, Tali, Liara, Thane, Grunt. The human squadmates go: Kasumi, Jack, Miranda, Jacob, Zaeed, Ashley, Kaidan

As an ME1 fan, I'm quite pleased with the content. My favorite characters all have larger roles, save Jack. But I can get past that.

I haven' read all the leaked info... just scanned certain parts...the main story seems okay but for me it looks like they really didn't know what to do with the characters and just made up scenes to induce drama...and as I said re-cycled drama at that.

I would be grateful to anyone who messaged me Legion's arc, what I've read from here has fascinated and worried me in equal measures.

K, read it and I am NOT happy. Legion was one of the very few characters I genuinely adored. :( Hopefully there are alternative ways to resolve this scenario.

Look I understand that this is a place to discuss the upcoming game but...jesus people just let Bioware tell their story. You are not in the driver's seat, shut up, get in the back, and enjoy the ride.

Not really...the "core" squad doesn't make me happy.

This more or less applies to me as well. I did not read any of leaked script myself but I came across a post on gamefaqs where everyone was discussing the spoilers and the general concenus is that there will be a core squad and then there will be temporary squad mates and by the looks of things none of the characters that I like are apart of the "core" squad, so no, I'm not happy.

I've also heard some talk of scripted deaths. The replay value for ME3 just went straight down the toilet is this is true.

The problem with that is that it was sold on the basis that it was our story, our Shepard, our choices that defined the universe around us.

The game was supposedly about choice and the consequences of those choices influencing the world around your character, so letting Bioware tell their story as you put it is fine and dandy, except for the fact they sold it to us on the basis that we would influence how that story would play out.

When you see the consequences of your choices being negated completely and when in a lot of those cases that negation makes no freakin sense whatsoever, then you have every right to feel like you were sold a false premise or that somewhere along the way the writers screwed the pooch.

If Bioware had a coherent plan for their story then none of this would really have been an issue, but instead they make things up on the fly, go against their own lore, make characters act ooc without properly explaining why and expect us to accept that everything's been planned out and this is the story they always wanted to tell us.

I'm sorry but when you have devs tweeting that Tali is only a perma squadmember because of fanbase reaction and was never planned to play that role and when you have the lead writer saying that the SM mission was a bad idea and only when they put it in did they realise this, letting bioware tell their story doesn't carry that much weight.

Since apparently they have no idea what story it is they want to tell in the first place.

The basics are fine, we all knew what the plot was going to be pretty much from me1, but it's incorporating the characters into the narrative where they really foul up imo, as you rightly point out its re-cycled drama and surely we should expect for more than that in the last act of a trilogy.

As a standalone game me3 will probably be the best of all 3, as the third act in a trilogy the jury's still out, the problem is that it is the third act in a trilogy and how its received will pretty much define mass effect as a series imo.

Also i'd advise you not to read the entire leak, better to go in unaware and hopeful, than aware and not, even if they've changed things, the leak will only annoy the hell out of you in the long run, says the voice of bitter experience lol.
