I'll glady have Jack & Miranda over Liara/Tali as well but..what can we do?

I can tell you that authors of written stories often work the same way. They start with "I want this to happen. How can I make it happen and not look ridiculous?". It even goes down to "I want this character to say X at some point." In itself, it's not bad. How it comes across depends on the execution. I've literally spent days working things like this out with Elyvern for her fanfic "Degress of Inheritance". With a game like ME3, they also have to take into account that different players want different things.alperez wrote...
Basic writing should allow for a character arc to flow naturally imo, so even when a curveball is thrown into that arc it should come as a surprise yes but not a WTF surprise, imo some of the things they have certain characters doing shows they don't even understand their own creations and worse rather than plot out how the characters would evolve instead they just have them do actions and then later create the reasons why they've done them.
And remember this is all not meant to be read. It's meant to be heard in the context of a visual presentation. Actually, if you start to imagine scenes around the lines you'll often get a much better impression.
I see quite a bit of good stuff in the files and not really a lot of bad stuff. The bad lies mainly in things that are missing and should be there. Perhaps we'll see them yet. Only some lines of consequences are badly contrived and there are some really cheesy tropes at work in places. But did you expect any different? The previous games were the same way.
It's always going to be a compromise between listening to the old fans, appealing to new players, the writers' vision and efficient resource allocation. I can see a few points where they did listen to the fans - yes, that does apply to Miranda, too. How drastic the points are where they didn't remains to be seen. The second thing is that by the looks of things they have taken no notice of what a lot of fans wanted in terms of characterisation and how events would play out, now some may say its their product they can do what they like and this is true, but at times its almost as if they've not just ignored what people have asked for but gone in the completely opposite direction deliberately.

Also I'm very disappointed in how the ME2 squad are "riding the bench" because of so called plot demands. Seriously ****, Ashley, Garrus, Kaidan, Liara, and Tali. I should be able to recruit who I want for the series finale.
Just my 2 Lincolns, take it how you will.

Not keen with what has been said for the VS. Horizon was a big negative issue with them and now sounds like there's a Horizon and Virmire part 2.

I haven't decided yet whether to even bother getting ME3 and so far the spoilers are not convincing me that it is a must have.

Just a situation that would probably make people hate them even more.
@CptData, I'm fearing for both.
I just feel that the VS has had it's share of hostility, why can't other characters have faults or misjudgement?

Oh boy. I wonder what that could be.
And putting them in the negative spotlight for another time just seems unessecary.

Plus it looks like the more pragmatic and less douchenozzle renegade Sheps will be pleased. There's plenty of ruthless but perfectly justifible decisions to make.
*Slight Spoilers Warning*
Only thing I'm irked about is not being able to ditch both parties during virmire 2.0. You'd think Shep knowing he's weak and so is the...virmire 2.0 person would try to use the last of his strength to save himself but nooooo. And VS 2.0 can somehow haul Shep's dead weight while being severely injured (enough so that they couldn't save themselves despite having space magic) (because he/she loses all his/her strength somehow...) it's just bleh.

Could be seen as double statement but I concur. I want some justice for the VS as well. I hope I can get the "right" justice for Ashley (or Kaidan, if I make a playthrough with him). What ppl consider as "right" is up to them. For me it's "VS is with Shepard till the end of ME3"

Now that makes sense.
Na, dunno if we get pissed. Depends on who you like more (and keep) or what character you're more willing to sacrifice. It'll become horrible if you like both. Like in Virmire. I liked Ash -and- Kaidan.

Yeah, me too. But (no spoilers) from what I've red in the script they've considered a TON of alternatives of how could "Virmire 2.0" happen, so maybe it won't be that bad in the end.CptData wrote...

That would certainly be ideal for me.
But at the moment, I figure, the VS has already had a Horizon, and a Virmire. There's no reason to give them another one of each in a single game!

Dunno, wouldn't bet my money on that.
