I would probably want to live somewhere like Thessia as everything about it just seems appealing to me, although being apart of something like the resurrection of a planet, such as Rannoch, would be pretty amazing to do. Also if Shepard didn't romance Liara I would sign up to the alliance and try and get a posting on the Normandy to fulfill a mans fantasy

I'd kick Liara out of her apartment. In the rain Illium looks great and so does Liara's apartment.
Edit: Or that hotel on Noveria. I love the look of the snowstorm against the roof window in the place you go to on Noveria in Mass Effect 1.
