Geez, why is the Warden pretty much denied any happiness? Why are they not allowed to have any happiness whatsoever in their damned life? They seem forever doomed to be miserable. All possible endings for the Warden seem very bittersweet at best.

Let's see...

Dwarf Noble: Your father and brothers are still dead. Everyone still hates your guts thinks your a murderer and blames you for all their problems. You're still stripped of your noble status. You're still worthless and have absolutely nothing.

Dwarf Commoner: Rica and your mother get to live in a palace, happy as clams, while you're still a filthy worthless surface dwarf and everyone still only sees you as casteless. You have nothing.

City Elf: Your fiancee is still dead or has run off on you, your home is a wreck, and your family doesn't want you back. And to the rest of the world, you are just a stupid, sappy, lowly, pathetic elf.

Dalish Elf: Your tribe gets live in the forest, everyone is happy as a clam, but they don't want you back. And to the rest of the world, you are just a stupid, sappy, lowly, pathetic elf.

Human Noble: Your family is still dead. Your stupid ass brother decides to magically come back from the dead, so he gets all of Dad's land and titles, and you are left with absolutely nothing.

Mage: You can never return to the tower, everyone is dead, and the Chantry still sucks egg shells.

So in other words, in EVERY ending, regardless of origin, you are homeless, nobody from your old life wants you anymore, you have no rights to a damn thing and you're doomed to be a drifter for as long as you live.

Also, after a decidedly brief affair, your love interest also doesn't give a crap about you anymore and you're left alone. Again.

Your fellow Wardens even don't give a crap about you and you're left alone to do EVERYTHING, even though that's not how the stupid Wardens are supposed to work. They never make any effort to join you, or have you join then, and just ditch you every chance they get.

Oh, and you've also been spayed/neutered, kind of like the stray animal that you've been forced to become. Forever.

In other words, you're just all alone in the world, you've got nothing and nobody.

And the world doesn't appreciate ANYTHING you did. Everyone still hates the Wardens too, and they especially hate you. You get no respect or credit whatsoever for saving all of their worthless asses, even though you've literally sacrificed EVERYTHING for them. Your selflessness doesn't mean squat to anyone.

Seriously, why can't the Warden have a somewhat optimistic ending for a change? Why is the protagonist only allowed to be miserable for the remainder of their life?

I hate this. After all that hard work, the protagonist deserves at least some shred of happiness. At least let them have someone who will truly love them for the rest of their meager life? Geeze, that was just awful. And unnecessary.

Let's see:

Dwarf Noble: Declared a paragon and gets the throne after Harrowmont.

Dwarf Commoner: Declared a paragon, and family ennobled.

City Elf: Is ennobled and made bann of the Alienage.

Dalish Elf: can get land for the Dalish.

Human Noble can marry Anora or Alister depending on gender, and can choose to become the new Teryn of Gweryn.

So there are several non bad endings.

Actually, your fellow Wardens DO try to help you.....BUT Loghain turns them back at the border.
Riordan himself tell's you that.

That in my opinion should NOT have been allowed in the game......Since neither will produce an heir. It stands to reason that either one or the other WILL be set aside eventually.
Not a happy ending at all.

I think going through the mirror with Morrigan was a pretty good ending.

Mine warden didn´t follow morrigan and that was a poor ending because the story was open.

In DA3 if the warden was protaganist then WH could function as a bridge.

This is an interesting thread, one which I'll read thoroughly after I finish the game.

That said, it's full of spoilers and should be moved to one of the other forum categories.

Spoilers belong in the spoiler forums. Please post there in the future.

I'm locking this and moving it into a spoiler forum.
