And lo the Lord thy Shepard appeared before Liara of T'soni within the
caverns of Therum within her time of darkest need and she thoughteth he
was but a hallucination. Lord thy Shepard saideth 'Nay, speak not of
hallucinations for thou art speaking to Commander Shepard, the first

Nice going, Sajuro, surely Deity smileth upon thee.

-------------------------------------

And mightily didst they make terrible war and many were slain.  For the Lord thy Shepard prevaileth against the wicked and conquereth the noobs, and there was none to withstand the wrath of the Nine nor the shadow of the Broker, and the slayer slayeth all that were slain and none were unslain that were to be slain.

And the Lord thy Shepard pursueth the Evil one even from the Alpha through the Omega, and confronteth the Toy of Evil in the Base of the Minions of Darkness.  And lo, the Lady Miranda of the Miraculous Roundness cryeth, "Oh Lord, useth thy Cain, if thou art able!"  "No - not that cane, and not there - Use it upon the the big Ugliness darting and ducking about and which prepareth itself to incinerate thee!"

And with a wonderful thunder and ansiotropic blooming, the Cain spoke twice and behold, with gnashing of teeth and lego-like disassembly did the Dukling of Ugliness fall into the Abyss.  Wherefore didst TIM of the Tiny Blue Orbs appeared to the Lord and sayeth, "Have I got a deal for thou."   "Saveth this place for it shall be an inheritance and possession to me and my people and it shall make us mighty and exalted over all the peoples throughout all the worlds."

But the Lord Shepard distrusteth the shiftiness of the Azure Orbs and sayeth, "To everything there is a season, and time it is to bloweth this popstand."  Wherefor TIM of the Tiny Orbs waxed exceeding displeased at what he was without power to change, but having taken the 12 sacred steps, possessed the serenity to know the diffference.

And thus did the Shepard load a Justin Bieber Greatest Hits OSD into the main core, which driveth out reason,  and causeth panic and lamententions.   And indeed great was the wailing and torment, and a great upheaval shook the base even unto the ends of the platforms.   And all were tossed as if upon a great sea, and were shaken to the ground.  Whereafter the Lord Shepard arose first and with much solace found the Mordin liveth yet.

A little way off lay the Lady Miranda crushed by a great stone and the Mordin sayeth, "Lo she breatheth not."  But the Shepard lifteth the stone away and turning to the Mordin, sayeth, "See, oh ye of little faith, she is still, but yet will stir, for the hands of the Shepard are the hands of a Healer."

And withall, laying his hand upon the miraculuousness of her roundnesses and raising his eyes to the heavens, sayeth, "Let that which has fallen arise, and that which lies low become erect!"  And with that, the Lady openeth her eyes and giving the Lord a sharp slap across the face, declareth, "Last one to the Normandy cleaneth up after dinner!"  And with that the three made great haste and much speed, and leapt through the void whereupon a great chariot with a firey tail bore them away to heavenly realms. Sela

Here endeth today's lesson.

Book of Volus, Chapter 10; Verse Seven

"And so Shepard descended upon the downtrodden of the wards, only to find Kalisah the wayward addressing him in regard to his resurrection. And it was so, that Shepard, our Lord, did loathe Kalisah the wayward, and remembereth her betrayal of yore. For it was she that did twist the words of our Lord against him, so that he might not gaineth good sanction from his own people. And so upon remembrance of these actions, Shepard, our Lord, didth Falcon Punch Kalisah the wary into oblivion. And thus were the days of forgiveness."

I the problem is that we know so little about the reapers. So any way in which we beat them is going to seem contrived whether its a DEM, Chekhov's gun, MacGuffin or anything else. Does the story leak give us any exposition on the reapers?

Haven't read the book but i've seen quotes/synospsis and all i got was more vague quasi-philosophical rambling. That's not the kind of eposition i was looking for. Reapers are pretty radically different form of life to us so i don't mind if they're communications with us are unclear but there's been other factions in the game studying the reapers and i'd hope they could provide us with some information which is a bit more meaningful and gives us more of an idea of what we're up against.

Well, ME series already had several McGuffins like prothean trinket from the Consort or 'beings of light', even batarian Leviathan can be considered McGuffin so far unless it changes in ME3.

The prothean trinket was a Chekhov's gun.

Its pretty clear organics cannot win against the reapers solely on technology - any such a "win" would have to fall in the DEM catory imo.   The point of this thread which I think is very on target is to explore plausible scenarios supporting an organic win.    If you agree with me that simply outgunning or outsmarting them fails to meet this criterion, then what is left is the "backdoor"  - some unknown or ignored weakness that can be exploited with fatal or game-changing consequences.

There are only a few possibilies I'm aware of -

1 - Tali's research on her RM - I would bet dollars to donuts that we will hear more about that in ME3 - to quote anderson, "...maybe a weapon..."  that would literally get the Reapers where they live - could als be something far more sinister against which reapers and organics must unite (much more unlikely but interesting idea)

2 - Reaper's need for organics (cf Revelation)  perhaps they need an infusion every 50k yrs to continue - so maybe we fatally weaken them if not starve them to death via galactic unity and resistance - (some kind of moral message there as well.)

3 - Reaper's interest in Shepard DOA or otherwise - as a very special avatar, perhaps he is assimilated but acquires the abilty to "ASSUME CONTROL" and turn the tide of battle, with or without a final self-sacrifice.

3 - Of course there are other more creative solutions, such as a  galaxy-wide calimari cook-off,  Occupy-a-Reaper campaigns, asari-reaper dating services, and of course the ultimate resolution, which is all this is just Herman Cain's bad dream about the upcoming primary fight.

Yay for resurrecting the 4 month old thread which ironically turned out to be more than a little prophetic. And Bioware says they actually care for what the fans think, riiiight...
