Because, you know. I'm curious. David Gaider was kind enough to tell us the rate of the elves, Im wondering if we could have one more clarification.
I for one, like all the graphical changes that DA2 has made (not including the sometimes difficult to reproduce characters in DA:O.
That said, I also enjoy the look of the new Darkspawn, (Go ahead, sue me if you don't like it).
Even so, I know that there is a great deal more disdain for the new Darkspawn, at least on the forums.
Now, in my ideal world we keep the new Darkspawn, and try to make some concessions with the old ones, "polish" them, if you will (except instead of making them shinier, we make them bloodier and dirtier).
Thoughts?
Will Bioware change the Darkspawn back?

The Darkspawn is sad now. Before they were clearly a corrupt mirror image of tainted people, Genlocks being small like dwarves, Hurlocks being tall like humans, and the Shrieks clearly having elven features.
Now Hurlocks look like maniatic monkeys, there is nothing savage about them. Genlocks have become mini-ogres and shrieks have been replaced by one type of mage.
The Darkspawn doesn't seem cunning anymore, in Origins they used a wide arrangement of weapon types, like any humanoid, even herded nugs and Bronto, used Rams sometimes too. Now thay are just always with their genetic weapons and moneky-like walking. The Genlocks rarely carry shields.
They lost their variety, just like the exploration element in the game is destroyed.

I'd say almost certainly not. But I'd probably settle for them adding in some of the old darkspawn models instead of replacing the new ones entirely.

Talking darkspawn need lips, without lips you can't form many sounds, I hate that some of the talking darkspawn don't have lips.

Are we talking about darkspawn in the main game or the darkspawn in Legacy? I really liked what they did with the Alpha Genlocks and found them much tougher than in Origins. They also did seem to have some form of shield that they used. I did wonder what became of the shrieks though as they were always tricky when they attacked in packs. The emissaries were better in DA2 because everyone questioned why there were genlock emissaries in Origins when genlocks are meant to be dwarves. However, I preferred the hurlocks in Origins as they did seem to bear more resemblance to their origin species.

Like I've said before I have this feeling they've changed the design of the Darkspawn because they intend to make the Darkspawn into non-hostile/'peaceful'/not insane creatures (and that would involve the Magisters and the Architect too)
Mind you I think they should have came up with an excuse for their change of look instead of just retconning their look. And my above explanation ^ doesn't really explain everything...

I prefer the Ogres from DAO, the Genlocks from DA2 and am indifferent to the Hurlocks in both games. (Maybe the DA2 design with the DAO colour scheme would please me more than either.)
There's certainly room for improvement and refinement of the current designs, but I don't want them to go back to exactly what they had in Origins.
