I bought a DVD copy of mass effect 1 having looked through the forums I think I know my problem,

When installing on Windows 7 64bit, my cat jumped on my keyboard (anybody who has cats knows this sadly is a common occurance) and in doing so caught the keyboard cancelling the install and not paying attention I clicked "Reinstall using recommended settings" which appears to be the main problem with 64bit installs as it allows me to enter the serial code then says install cancelled. Question is, how do I undo that action without system restore?

Anything else I'm missing please do tell, I'm not very tech savvy so I've done my best :)

I appologise in advance for those who have answered this a million times before...

Included the questionnaire thing too.

1.  It’s important to identify which product is experiencing the problem.

  a.   Is it the console version or the PC version?  PC

  b. Media: DVD disc

2.  System Details

  a. Processor / Core count / Core Speed / Main RAM Amount
Dual core 3.0 - 4GIG RAM

  b. Display Adapter / VRAM / Driver Version
NVidia something.. it's supported

  c. Sound Adapter / Driver Version

Integrated motherboard

  d. Operating System (& service pack if applicable)

Win 7 64bit

  e. Direct X Version

3.  Problem Details

Cuts out saying install cancelled after entering serial code, think it's because I pressed "reinstall using recommended settings"

Best I can say is to browse through your drive, and delete whatever folders have already been created by the install procedure, and try again. If you feel confident, look through your windows registry for entries that were created in there as well.
If it still doesnt work after that, you will have to cnotact EA customer support and get them to suplpy you with the link to the manual uninstall procedure.
Unfortunately, EA in their wisdom have done a full revamp of their help site, rendering all helpful links that us unofficial support folks have built up, as useless.  Thanks EA.

Honestly, that shouldn't come as any surprise...

Given how often EA's support muppets tell people come her to get problems solved, it is quite surprising. Then again, the muppets themselves wouldnt have anything to do with  the redesign.
