I don't remember Bioware saying they intended to reinvent the wheel with TOR but add their own uniquness to it (i.e fully voiced and more story oriented than other MMOs) and imo they've done that perfectly. Anyhow I played in the weekend like a month or so ago and would not like to spoil anymore of the game so here is my key:

A staff member sent me a code, but valid only until Nov 18 for registration...so I won't even bother posting it...and if it had Origin involved....I wouldn't play it anyway.

Same here , I hadn't checked my email in like 3 or 4 days so I missed the cut off date of the 18th. I was all liike "NOOOOOOOO!!!!!"

Uhm, why dont you simply try?
All you need to try the code is to fill in your E-Mail, Birthday and Country, plus a Nick and Password and agree to privacy policy etc. which you might do anyway if you want to play EA-Games.
You neither need to agree to Testing-Agreement nor to fill in that more detailed information (including phone number, which i dont have) to redeem these codes.
You might need to agree/fill in later, but you can test your code first.

Got beta...unfortunately it expired...because bioware can't get their frickin login page to work properly.

seriously, the person responsible for the operation of swtor.com should be shot, it's a frickin joke. automatic log offs randomly, asking security questions you haven't answered even when you've typed in you login correctly, security questions failing regardless of if you've typed the answer correctly, captcha security that doesn't work and just loops back. Then there's a support department who's only response to any problem is "clear your cache (regardless of if you informed them that you'd cleared it several times before opting to contact support) and we'll get back to you later" then ignore contacting you for weeks before telling you that your claim has been resolved.

If this is an indication of how it's going to be I'll probably have to cancel that CE and possibly even my ME3 preorder too, I can't believe that a company can be this sloppy, inefficient and nonchalant.

It's EA's updated security system passwords have to conform to the new rules " one upercase, and one number" and all that

as fort he link, as it's been sited here a few times. Remove the last / and it would work...or go to the swtor site and do it manually through your account tab

The difference is superficial. The game stilll works in a very similar way just things look a bit different.

I like when people start whining about WoW cloning. Just means they havent tried the game. Its actually quite different. haha.

Not to mention these same people complain about WoW clones and while they play Battlefield 3 and then go pick up MW3 the next weekend. Sigh... the irony...

Same as Quake 2 works in a very similar way to Call of duty.
