ok, so this game has been a breeze on normal mode...1st playthrough.
I am at the point where the landsmeet is forcing me to duel loghain...its impossible...i cannot damage him at all.
Plus the stupid save game is BEFORE the big fight...so i have to fight that fight before i do the stupid impossible loghain fight...
i am about ready to throw the game down and quit (yes very dramatic, i know), any help please.
also, is this fhis the end of the game/final fight?
loghain fight need help

No it is not the end of the game.
Loghain can be somewhat tricky for a warrior, be prepared to use some potions. There's no specific strategy other than using your skills well. Or you could just pick the (attack) option and use your whole party I would assume. If you are a mage and you want to cheese it just cone of cold, run back a bit, winters grasp, cone of cold, repeat until dead (which will be very soon).

What's your character? I defeated him on normal using a two-hand sword wielder. Used potions a lot, berserk, blood thirst, etc. BUT used Leliana to stab him on the back.

first time I did the dual and had to use Alister instead of my Mage...didn't have a problem with him. Just bash and potion when needed. WHen I did my secound play through I had my Rogue A/D and didn't use one potoin...I'm playing on normal too. THis time I have a sword/shield warrior and doing the King Queen play through so will be the Champion again like my Rogue. You still realy haven't told us what char you have. Also with the King Queen option (they marry each other) if you word it right you don't have to do that first big group fight.

Did it on nightmare with a tank, peice of cake. I did it once with morrigan, just spam CCs and run around if resisted.
Best bet is to equip alistair with something like topsider's honor, red cliff elite shield and supperior dragon bone(maybe juggernaute or effort if you don't have it). Use shield wall+precise striking, sheild bash whenever you can, and use potions when needed. Alistair have all the defence-oriented talents right ?
Other than that... well cone of cold/horror/sleep/misdirection hex spam with some running around can do wonders

Pretty much this. Loghain hits really hard, so it's all about controling his damage with your stuns and CC. The two times i've done it I've survived by either CC and running around taking potshots at him or CC and potion chugging through his burst.

drop it to easy or use another champion to duel him.
How are you having trouble as a mage? I fought him with my mage on hard and he couldn't get within ten feet of me before he died. What is your mage's build??? Mage should be the easiest way to beat him.

Stack poisons. Dirty fighting. Momentum. Facestab till he drops dead. Win.
So much for a fair duel

On my first playthrough with my Sword and Board warrior it was a pain. Second playthrough on my mage, he was down in 20 seconds

The first time I tried it, I had Alistair do the duel (I thought it was a good idea for the future king to show off in front of the Bannorn) and he failed miserably. The problem was that I had him in the Juggernaut's Armor, which is geared against magic. So I tried again with him in the Legion of the Dead's Armor, and it worked out just fine on the first try. Earlier in the game, I had given him a point in Poison-Making so that he could use coatings and flasks. That helps a lot. Good luck.

I could not beat him front on with my Rogue.
But I found it easy with Morrigan. when he chargesher, I cast Cone of Cold, move away and hit him with ranged magic attacks. Then cast Cone of Cold again.
Though from a roleplaying perspective, it makes more sense for my character or Alistair to duel him.

I had to drop it to easy with my rogue and pop healing pots. My mage handled him on hard without using a single pot and never getting within ten feet of Loghain. My two handed warrior handled him on normal with a few pots without too much trouble. He's definitely meant to be fought by a mage. If you don't have a mage and are having trouble put Morrigan against him and spam cone of cold and ranged DPS attacks. Any DPS or CC mage should be able to handle Loghain on nightmare as long as you know even remotely how to play a mage. A rogue or warrior will require the best equipment and a very smart build or 20 odd healing pots. If you're like me and built a rogue that's nerfed because you didn't know what you're doing, or you built a support warrior/champion instead of pure DPS, I'd just duel Loghain with Morrigan to save yourself the healing pots. And the headache of multiple reloads.

yeah from what I understand mages trump him really easily. I had no problems taking him down in less than 25 seconds with my mage. Cone of cold is far to overpowered.

i play on normal with my rogue. second playthrough. it was very easy. maybe i already have the best weapons (w/ GM element runes) and best equipment for my rogue.
all i did was
HIDE>Duelist Active>Momentum Active
Dirty Fighting Stun or Riposte
Dead Loghain
it was fast. i killed him under a minute.
