It only has faster animations.
Also graphics can kiss my ass when comes to deciding quality of game.

Awards are decided by the council.
Readers' votes only matters in the most anticipated game and trailer catogories.

I know. They hyped it up and thus raped the combat. It's got this hack-n-slash feeling to it like in generic massive multiplayer online games...pity.
If you don't care about graphics, then I DO wonder what you base your choice of game on...knowing games are mostly visually oriented afterall. Oh well, I won't debate personal taste. It just made me wonder.

DA2's combat looks like some super awkward version of Devil May Cry and the tactical aspects of the combat are 100% ruined by monsters coming in waves.
And it's not about graphics, that's true, but even putting the ****ty graphics aside DA2's art design and environments are so much worse than the first one and just doesn't hold up to the rest of the big games this year.

DA:O has generic MMO feeling.
Also the Witcher 2 and Skyrim have more of a hack'an slah feeling then Dragon Age 2 will ever have.

You buy games cause they look pretty?
Not because they have look to have enjoyable gameplay and interesting story and characters?
The hell?

If you think outside of the box, DA2 can be tactical.
Here's a hint what I mean.
Retreat to better defensive position and avoid waves from behind and attract waves to that position if they're not coming by at least 1 person.
And it's not about graphics, that's true, but even putting the ****ty graphics aside DA2's art design and environments are so much worse than the first one and just doesn't hold up to the rest of the big games this year.
DA:O art design is generic with very awkward looking hands.
Except for Darkspawn. They look badass.
Though for DA2 art design is just your opinion.
For me is quite nice.
Except for Darkspawn.
They look very lame.

Wowowow, easy there...to me DA:O felt far more genuine when it came to battles...in DA2 everything is just rushed so much...Hawke jumps around like a ninja on speed, fires off spells as if he's shooting an ordinary gun...okay, in DA:O mages needed some time to be actually able to cast a spell, it was annoying, I admit...but it added to the integrity and 'realistic' feel of the game...
As for Skyrim, I haven't played it myself yet, but judging from the video trailers I saw, it looks like an amazing game to me and I would very much like to try it out. At least it looks far better than DA2.
As for your second remark: no, I don't merely buy games because they're 'pretty'. Did I ever say that, first of all? Don't think so. In my opinion, story-telling and characters are just as important. I'd rather look for a nice combination of these three elements. In my opinion, DA 2 had none of these. But that is just my personal opinion. Anyway, I don't want to turn this topic into another DA2 lovers-haters sh*tstorm, so I'll stop here.

Skyrim comes with Steam -> permission denied. Also, what I read about it on the net isnt exciting.
CD Project already lost me as a customer years ago when they asked for every detail of my life just so I could install the damn game patch for Witcher 1.
And what is Obsidian doing, anyway ? They havent released any new RPG in ages.
So yeah, I would nominate DA2 too. Not because its good. Just because there is no concurrence.

How is there a problem with Skyrim coming with Steam? Is this related to the EA's Origin issue?

So wait, you didn't even played Skyrim and you would still give a vote for the best RPG?
That's ridiculous!
And this is coming from the guy who played Skyrim and says Skyrim should get not only the best RPG of the year award, but also the best game of the year award!

Most of Obsidian was helping Bethesda to make on Skyrim.

That would explain all the bugs
OT: It's a relatively high-profile WRPG release, so I'm not surpised at all it ends up in the Spike awards. I don't think actual quality of the game is particularly high on their decision-making criteria considering that it's Spike.

Oh, but watch it get nominated next year when the console version is released.

I am still at a loss of words over the fact that The Witcher 2 was not nominated. It's like the VGA's just wants to pretend the game doesn't exist.

It's in the running for Best PC Game.

I never heard of Obsidian working on Skyrim. Beth should do that though. Create the nice looking world/scenery, and let Obsidian handle all the writing and rpg mechanics.
It would be better than Morrowind!

He was saying the VGAs didn't acknowledge the game exists. I told him it's nominated for best PC game, which is hardly "pretending the game doesn't exist".

I sincerely liked the DA2 version of “I’m Not Calling You a Liar”.
