Reading the comments on the VGA site is funny. Everyone is asking where the hell TW2 is, lol.

And G4 is pitting TW2 against Dark Souls, which again, is ridiculous. A console exclusive vs. a PC exclusive?? It makes no sense.

At least Dark Souls and Skyrim would be make more sense since they are both open world and are similar in terms of gameplay. Witcher 2 vs DA2 makes more sense.

Skyrim is a fun game that does some things very well (and much better than DA2).

But still, people treating it like it is Fallout meets Gothic 2 meets Torment is a bit excessive. Bethesda's tin ear for dialogues, bland NPCs and "go to that dungeon and kill/retrieve monsters/stuff" quests are still there.

I do not think DA2 should get credits for writing anymore, because we all know bioware games always have good writing.

I wouldn't even call Dark souls a RPG, it's a good game bu it's really a dungeon crawler with RPG elements.

Doesn't matter if DA2 was nominated, we all know Skyrim will win

DA2 wasn't a bad game.

As far as RPGs go it was ok in some parts, and good in others. But unlike Dragon Age: Origins it wasn't a great game. Does it deserve to be nominated for best RPG? No, but the only reason it is nominated is a lack of competition. RPGs are few and far between compared to shooter or action titles.

Skyrim will win.

I watched the VGAs for the first time last year and will never watch them again. Well, atleast not for many years. The host was a joke, like he didn't think he had to take it seriously because it was video games. The show was kind of gimmicky aswell. I'll wait until they take the award ceremony seriously.

As for DAII getting nominated, why not? I find it to be every bit as enjoyable as DAI. There are things I think are better, and things I think are worse (not to mention a few glitches and other hiccups related with the short development time), but overall I enjoy both equally.

You must not watch a lot of awards shows. The host is often supposed to go for the laugh. They are rarely serious affairs.

Last year they nominated Black Ops and not Starcraft. They even announced that Skyrim will be nominated for Goty BEFORE the game even came out......yeah.

err...why I even...
I just ... sometimes... wanna break down and cry. What is this category/genre shifting?
Did industry change the meaning of a RPG?
I know there is evolution that gives birth to a whole new breed of genres and subgenres but RPG is a RPG.
Next time I wake up it will be Modern warfare 5 in RPG category coz there are perks to choose from in multiplayer :/
