For general information:

From the leaked screenshots, the classes/races break down as so-

Soldier + Sentinel = Human, Krogan, Turian
Adept + Vanguard = Human, Asari, Drell
Engineer + Infiltrator = Human, Quarian (female only), Salarian

All Human selections had both genders available.

There were no other available options, it is not an open system and there seems to be a pretty set and patented method to the selections. Look on Gamespot and IGN for the screenshots.

There has to be an asari under Vanguard, wouldn't play with anything else. But it sucks that only one is unlocked from the start I hope it gets changed or there's at least one male and one female option open from the start of you can unlock them in other ways than playing the previous race/gender combo.

It would probably depend on which races can be which classes. Every race should have access to Soldier (because, hey, grab a weapon and start shooting people and Soldier is a pocket favorite of mine), but Sentinel is my current baby and I would really like to know if any other race besides Humans can be Sentinels.

I'd totally love to be a Turian Sentinel...

What's funny, is on the reaper spawn-thing fight in ME2, Tali shot it and killed it while I was reloading.
It aggravated me. (Especially considering it was with the shotgun, on the weak point in the gut.)

No Turian Infiltrator???? This is ridiculous! Garrus is the closest thing to an infiltrator in your squad, and he is a Turian. I am quite upset by this.
