The krogan is just getting one class by the looks of it, which I think is a little weak.

The highest amount of classes any race that isn't human gets is two. Quarian, turian, asari, drell and salarian. They're all getting two classes.

While the human gets all of them. I think that's both weird and a little lame. I mean, the turian of all people should be able to play as Infiltrator, if the quarian can.

Maybe it's not final, but the current setup should be improved.

...could you see anything NOT soldier from a Krogan?
but I will agree that Turian would seem like a quality infiltrator class.

I'll probably pick the two n00b classes of Soldier and or Vanguard for most of my multiplayer games, but if I'm on a team of only gun-wielders, I'm totally fine switching to adept or engineer.

I love ME too much to not play as every class and every race at least a few times.

I wanted to re-iterate what has already been mentioned (though not read by everyone) for the sake of emphasis. The demo screenshots for character selection already confirmed the race/class options thus far, and I for one agree with the limitations on classes within each culture:

Human: Adept, Engineer, Infiltrator, Sentinel, Soldier, Vanguard
Asari: Adept, Vanguard
Drell: Adept, Vanguard
Quarian: Engineer, Infiltrator
Salarian: Engineer, Infiltrator
Turian: Soldier, Sentinel
Krogan: Soldier, Sentinel

All races other than human were shown as being locked, but still listed/pictured under each class selection. In terms of gender, humans were shown with both options for each class, whereas all others were male except for the quarian engineer and both classes of the asari.

I think it fits with the lore to keep the classes restricted to each species cultural military approaches, and helps maintain a level of immersion in the multi-player arena.

Humans have the most genetic diversity and adapt and re-purpose alien technologies and strategies at an incredible pace, thus it makes sense to have all class options open for them.

Asari should be restricted to adepts and vanguards because an asari who lacks biotic aptitude is excluded from military service. Asari cannot stand up in a firestorm the way a human, turian, or krogan can (as per the codex), so it makes sense that they are not Sentinels or Soldiers. In addition these are the two classes that have barrier as their defensive stat instead of shields, which makes sense with asari preference for lighter armor (i.e. there were no kinetic barrier emitters or power-cells on the classic ME1 asari commando armor for example, and the same applies to Samara and Liara’s ME2 armors as well). In terms of the Drell, while we only have Thane to look to regarding their aptitudes, the agility of the drell and their predisposition for lung disorders does seem like wearing lighter armor is better suited for them, thus barrier classes seem the natural choice (even though Thane uses shields..?).

Salarians and Quarians should be restricted to engineers and infiltrators because of their cultural and/or physiological inclination for tech abilities, as well as for their weaker physical forms/frailties. I do not think it is at all coincidental that every time you see a squad of salarian/quarian ‘marines’ in game they are always getting wiped out en masse, OR require the player to engage in special actions (usually involving taking more fire yourself) to keep them alive (Virmire, Freedom’s Progress, Haestrom). While their certainly are exceptions I do not think it is enough to sway the norm in this case.

Krogan and Turians are obvious soldiers. The sentinel option bothered me somewhat for them, however both species have do have biotic and tech individuals in their armies, and the sentinel is the most battle-hardened (i.e. can take fire in frontal assault formations) of those classes. Every krogan biotic we have encountered has had warp and barrier, so warp and tech armor are a fairly close, and the latter fits well with their close-quarter combat nature. While some would think vanguard is a better choice I think it is highly unrealistic that a krogan can easily perform a biotic charge on his own body mass...specifically when greater newton force powers can barely topple them a handful of yards. We have not seen many turian biotics apart from an indoctrinated Saren, though we know they exist in military units known as cabals. In terms of tech powers, in both cases the secondary tech powers if the sentinel are fairly straightforward to be adaptable on the battlefield for a war-like culture.

As for me, I will be playing a female human adept. However if the human armor customization does not allow for light armor options, nor removable helmets (or just wearing that umbra visor without the awful face-hood), then I will opt to play as an asari adept instead. Likewise, if the asari has Shockwave or Stasis in place of any of the three human adept powers (Singularity, Warp, Pull) then I will play as an asari adept under those circumstances as well.

I'll probably end up using Asari Adept and Krogan Sentinel the most.

I agree. I just didn't care to post anything - but I am very glad there are class/race restrictions. I think the different races should also get bonuses to their natural abilities - asari get bonus to biotic damage, quarians tech damage, drell maybe shorter biotic cooldown, krogan get the ability to recharge all of their health to full bars, turians get increased shields or weapon damage, maybe salarians get decreased tech cooldown? These are just quick ideas but they at least give a purpose to play the different races instead of a generic human.

Also, about your sentinel idea with turians and krogans. They aren't exactly experts in biotics or tech. They are skilled but it's not their profession. Turians and krogans are also the tank of the races.

I would also like the option to change abilities. So an adept my start with singularity, pull, throw, but the more you level up the adept the more access to abilities you get. However, you can only have 3 abilities set. So you could have different combinations of 3 abilities.

I'd probably play a sentinel or soldier. I saw sentinel gameplay and they were a freakin BEAST. Vanguard was also really strong.

Love this idea. Very fitting for all of them. Although Thane uses a sniper rifle, a Drell Vanguard would be awesome.

Hmmmm...who would I be? Turian Sentinel or Drell Vanguard. Or a Quarian Infiltrator. Argh the possibilites!

I still want to be a turian vanguard though, just because biotics is rare among them doesn't mean I shouldn't have the option to play as one if I want to...

I think it's dumb.  We see loads of Asari scientists, but they can't do tech.  We see loads of Krogan vanguards, but they don't exist.  Garrus is basically an infiltrator, but we have no Turian infiltrators.

All it does in reinforce the "Aliens are useless idiots.  Yay Humanity!" rubbish.

This.

Wrex is a biotic (he's even using his abilities in the intro to the Sur'Kesh leve), so why can't we have biotic krogans?

And I'm also sick of hearing the crap about humans having so much diversity.

If the aliens aren't capable of something, I'm sure that they'd adapt or learn how to do it, just like any human can.

Except you can have a biotic Krogan.  The screenshot showed the Krogan Sentinel powers as Tech Armor, Throw and Warp.  That fits the "Krogan Battlemaster" way better than the likely Vanguard set of "Charge, Pull, Shockwave".

The same goes for the Turian Sentinel.  The screenshot had them with Tech Armor, Cryo Blast and Overload.  That fits a Turian pretty darn well.

Can you have a turian biotic though? Even if I can be a sentinel as a turian, if I can't use biotics I'll be pissed.

Quarian Infiltrator.

Why? Quarians are by default loverly. Yes, that's right, loverly. Deal with it.

Add a sniper rifle to that, I'm one happy camper.
