Bad idea, to much impact in the gameplay and game structure in general.
.
Turning off a arrow that pop-up in the hud is one thing, totally changing how weapons work is another.

The cooling systems in the guns were removed to make place for the thermal clips. Sorry, but I can't see that option happening anytime soon.

I'd be fine with infinite ammo, but I quite like the reload animation. Regardless, I just edit ME2 so give all weapons, except Heavy Weapons, infinite ammo. As long as I can edit ME3 the same way I'll be happy.

Is there anything more badass than reloading a shotgun? Thermal clips FTW!

Here's a fun little detail:

In ME3, you can hear the thermal clips hitting the ground after you've reloaded.

This is actually a very good point.

I like both systems but prefer "thermal clips" over "cooldown" - so I don't need an option. Besides that, it seems as if the ammo system is more integral part of the gaming experience than before as seen as in the videos of leaked beta: Anderson is yelling he's out of ammo and the Normandy won't rescue Shepard as long as he has a shot left.

Exactly in the demo after you run out of ammo the guy says

"THE CALVARYS HERE GENTLEMEN" and BOOM!! I like that part

But nah, the ammo system is fine

WANT INFINITE AMMO?
Want Conrad Verner on your side?
Want Urdnot Wrex fighting with you in every battle?

Get the PC version and CREATE YOUR OWN MODS. That way you can play the game how you want to, even if that means getting the infameous four Apocalypse Ponies from Robot Chicken on your side.

Agreed. Mod it and you can become a God. ;)

I have no idea what the big deal is about the thermal clip system. You have to reload your gun, big deal?

Can't speak for others, but for me the "big deal" is having gameplay periodically interrupted by the need to go around the battlefield finding flashing red boxes to collect.

The way they should've made the thermal-clip-system from the start:

You have a certain amount of TCs, can be used with all weapons. Every time your gun overheats and you need to use it more, eject a TC and put in a new one, and you have one less extra. You pick up one and you have one more. If you just shot a few bullets or have time to wait until the weapon cools down by itself, you can.

And as a soldier, you could technically change weapon every time it overheats until the first one has cooled down.

Otherwise, I agree with Mesina2.

Yeah, because we all have the money and hours to a) get a rig and set up the mods and B) replay the entire gorram series. Again.

Look, I love Mass Effect. I will even admit without reservation that the PC version blows the 360 version out of the water. However. I bought ME1 for the 360 months before the PC version came out (it was actually a large part of the reason I got a 360), and it's a lot easier to game with my wife in front of the TV than it is to squish in front of the monitor together. (We game together. It's a thing.)

The "ha ha deal with it" crowd are trolls and not worth answering. This response, however, needs to be addressed: the PC solution is not practical for everyone. There are many reasons that people play the console version rather than the PC version, and quite a few of them have nothing to do with some perceived console superiority. (Believe me, in my case it is not a matter of preference.)Posted Image

Considering how linear ME2's maps are, you pretty much only have to move forward to where the enemies you killed were to pick up more clips, it really isn't that hard.

Limited ammo also encourages players not to just spray and pray, rather you actually have to aim your shots properly.

ME1-style overheating achieves exactly the same result without the need to go box collecting.

I think you forgot about this:

ME2's maps are giant corridors, it really isn't that hard to find ammo.

I didn't forget, I just didn't think it worth responding to. Killing enemies takes ammo. Kindof a major flaw in your argument.

You make the mistake of thinking I was asking for people to stop.  I'm just giving them some advice: you're not getting a "clipless" option.  But if you enjoy futility, by all means, plead away.

You made the mistake of thinking that people would want your advice.  If it's not this, then it's correcting someone.  None of it would be bad except for that fact that it always seems as though you're some kind of headmaster looking down your nose at those "unfortunate, uneducate peons that have the gall to exist but can't be allowed to remain ignorant otherwise they'd have a negative effect on you.  So you help them, reluctantly".

Keep that in mind whenever you constantly wonder why people think you're insulting them when you post.

I still don't see how your gameplay is being interrupted by there being an ammo system. Weapon runs out of ammo in the middle of a fight, thenl that teaches you next time to be more precise with your shooting and forces you to use a different gun briefly or your powers until you can pick up some more clips.

And well, I'd hardly say having to pick up clips after a fight is interrupting gameplay either since regardless of whether you wanted to or not, you would still have to move in the same direction of where they are simply to progress through the mission, unless spending a few extra seconds just rotating your screen to make a few steps in another direction to pick up ammo is really a massive deal.
