So, what about Michael Beattie? (Mordin's voice actor)

Sorry Terror_K - normally I agree with what you come out with, but you frankly don't know what you're talking about in this case.
The core of this is that, as Memmahkth says, we simply don't know what's going on or why. It could be an issue with his work ethic, or pay demands, or personality clashes, or it taking much longer for him to get the lines right than everyone else etc. Maybe Bioware wants a cheaper VA, maybe they thought Mordin should have a slightly different voice, maybe Mordin has a slightly different voice for a good (ie story) reason.
None of us knows.
Until we do, everyone who is complaining about this is going off half-cocked.
EDIT: I should also add that Bioware is under no obligation whatsoever to discuss their business dealings with fans. Maybe they're in negotiations, or there's an NDA etc. You just don't know, neither do I, nor does anyone else here.
Couldn't have said it better myself, and I even tried!
Like I said, I'd love for everything to stay the same.. but I wanted combat to remain the same as well. For ME2, I just wanted more story content from ME1. And ME2 was completely different, and after I got it through my thick skull that ME2 wasn't what I anticipated/wanted.. I ended up at the realisation that ME2 (for me) is a far superior game.
We'll see when the game is released who the VA's are, etc. And should there be any changes in gameplay/mechancis/game systems/VA/character motivations.. hopefully we get answers! But until then, we shouldn't put unreasonable demands on BW. It's getting close to release, and the release of that beta. I'm excited. I'm hoping SW:TOR will keep me distracted long enough for either ME3, or Borderlands 2 and then ME3 release.
I'm also super freakin' excited to see the next IP that BW will be working on once ME3 and SW:TOR are released. And the possibility of a new ME franchise.. or perhaps a continuation?

To not have a statement on this by now is a little troubling. I was really hoping this would have been clarified one way or the other by now. If there is still no announcement by next week then their silence on the issue speaks louder than their words ever could.
What's with the ultimatum bro?

People have been asking about Mordin's VO for weeks and getting nowhere. Beattie says he's been replaced. It's getting very near the end and unless BioWare feel pessured by the weight of fan expections to get Beattie back into the studio we'll be stuck with bootleg Mordin.

So? I think it's bad form for the VA to discuss these things. What goes on between BW and the VA's should stay there. Trying to pull fans or involve fans in these things is ridiculous and ultimately, unfair to us. We don't know what's going on, and I don't know video game production/recording methods. Some people are saying that VA can get done last, or not.
As someone else pointed out, perhaps his schedule was not free, and again perhaps not. We don't know BW's reasoning, and I don't think we should until possibly after the game ships. Again, I also don't want to speculate on the part that it's entirely BW's or entirely Beattie's fault as to why a deal is not getting done. It takes two to tango.
All in all, we want him back. Yes. Is that going to happen? We'll have to wait and see. I don't mind developers asking fans what they'd like to see in a sequel, or a series, or even just a game. But for fans to make demands or hold developers ransom unless their demands are met.. I think is unreasonable and would hurt game development in the future. (not just for BW, but the whole industry).
Would I like to find out what happened? Sure. Even if Beattie ends up recording for mordin. After this whole process, I would love full disclosure? Will it happen? <shrug> Does it change whether or not I'll pour everything into ME3, and get all the dlc? No.
Edit: Could you imagine how unfair it would be to the VA if BW/EA came out and said "well, we made the VA a fair offer, but they rejected it. You can blame him for ruining your game". Man, that would just be tasteless. Again, we don't know what's going on, so instead of creating these threads (I know fans love to do it to show support) and making ultimatums/threats.. how about you make threads for the disclosure of facts post release?

I take your point. Unfortunately, by the time we DO know for certain what went on between them, it will be far to late to influence the outcome. Besides, even knowing what went on doesn't necessarily mean I'd agree with it.
As a fan of Baettie's work in ME2, I believe it IS my job to let BW/EA know how disappointed I would be if he didn't reprise the role in ME3. And the time to do that is now.

The point is I saw an e-mail saying Beattie did want to continue his work but he was most likely not going to be allowed. He even had a petition site. Being quiet about things doesn't change a thing. People can speak their mind about the subject because they also have the power to change it (that's what forums are for). Look at the fanservice in previous games due to the forums outspeak.

Woo is referring to this very thread as a thread about Mordin's original voice actor (Michael Beattie). Meaning they've [officially] hired somebody else.

As for Woo's comment... wow, either he just gravely misspoke, or he confirmed BioWare's greatest potential blunder yet. Of course, we don't know the whole story - if there is one.
