Seriously, Mordin was one of the few characters from ME2 that really stood out from the rest, and 90 % of that came from his voice. The first thing I reacted upon when seeing the demonstration video of ME3 was that Mordin's voice was different. He felt like a completely new character.

Bring Beattie BACK! Seriously, ME3 won't be the same without him.

Mordin's voice is THE reason he's awesome. Everything else comes naturally by extension of that amazing voice. Beattie really, really needs to reprise the role.

I can't fathom why they would recast him. Hopefully its just extreme fear of the NDA, or Bioware is preparing to contact him...

I think it would be prudent at this time to point out that Anderson's VA told Gamespot back in September 2009 that he'd love to return as Anderson but still hadn't heard anything as of that time.

Indeed.

I actually just sent Michael Beattie an email, talking about how I'd be sad to see someone else play that role after his work as Mordin in ME2. And I brought up the Anderson thing. >_>

His voice is easiest to conceal using synths, so no biggie for me. Most of us didn't even catch Meer in the demos, they'd need some acting corrections and it's textbook Mordin. Other characters like Grunt or Garrus would be worth skulking over, but I can live with a recast Mordin.
