So, what about Michael Beattie? (Mordin's voice actor)

I would be sad if this were true. The VA has a huge impact on the character - they breathe life and personality into the lines. I don't see how anyone else could follow Micheal Beattie; his Mordin was priceless.

We need to find the right time to get Mordin to talk

Also we need Beattie to come back so that maybe we can hear Mordin sing more Gilbert & Sullivan :wizard:

If this turns out to be the case then I'm worried, I can't see how anyone could think that replacing Michael Beattie would be a sound idea... I always thought that he was one of the favourite non LI characters and for me, it was largely the excellent VA that made the character shine.

No. I am not believing this. They're just holding off his VA work a little bit, and come ME3 Mordin will have the voice we know and love.

Now to find the proper .gif for when I hit the anger stage.

I think he'd probably expect the same amount of dialogue as last time, so for him being contacted so late to do the same thing again it would seem unusual. It's only him saying it's unlikely.

Didn't Anderson's VA confirm he hadn't been called back just a couple of months before ME2 came out? The same thing could be happening with Mordin now :/

Ostensibly, I *know* this is a tiny thing in a development process with some major and complicated concerns.

But it actually will break my black heart just a little bit if they change Mordin's voice. Mordin was my favorite ME2 squaddie (a position of honor he shares only with Zaeed) and his voice played no small part in bringing that character to life so vividly. If he's not coming back, I doubt we'll ever know why, but so far... this is actually the worst and most disheartening thing I've heard about ME3.

Considering Mordin's reduced role in ME3, it wouldn't be too surprising to find that his voicing has been put on hiatus.

His role in ME3 is actually kind of bigger than it was in ME2. Just sayin'.

Yep. That's why I'm still slightly hopeful.

And think too, the implications of changing Mordin could be wider spread. They could change Wrex, too -- who knows. ME1--ME2 was nearly perfect about bringing everyone back. I'm hoping for the same in the final chapter.

But how many lines do you think he'll have? More or less?

Man, so many reviews raved about Mordin too. :( The critics loved Beattie's performance. He simply must return!

My feelings exactly.

Beattie needs to come back and be Mordin for ME3. It wouldn't be the same without him.

Why on god's earth are they not letting him continue voicing Mordin? There is absolutely no reason I can think of other than that they simply aren't satisfied with him in one way or another.

Money is always a possibility. Sometimes actors, after doing well in a role, demand a bigger payment for the sequel.

Besides, as some have said, this isn't really confirmed (though it's close enough to provide me with an excuse to entertain myself by fanraging).
