Just adding in my support for Beattie's return as Mordin. He defined the character with his excellent voice acting.

You're doing it wrong. More gifs are required. Or at least some CAPS.

Yeah I'd also like to show my support for the wrongness of a Beattie-less Mordin.

I didn't have any appropriate gifs handy though. Sorry.

I'm glad so many of us can agree. I may send an email to Michael with this thread, even, to illustrate to him that we do indeed love his work. :)

Would't this be funny, if it starts a trend and they replaced Miranda's voice too?:innocent:

Think of this a prep Stealth move - I reserve the Caps for my DPS sneak attack.

Bribing however is under consideration.

Whoa, I'm seriously surprised. Beattie really wants to do the role and Mordin is one of the most well liked characters of ME2.

I can't think of any reason of why he shouldn't be back.

I agree. Mr. Beattie did good work, and he will be missed if he doesn't finish the job.

Well at this point I just keep reminding myself of the situation with Keith David back in 2009, just four months before ME2 hit the shelves.

'Tis all I can do, really! Contractual work like voice acting really does get rather hush-hushy.

Didn't Anderson's VA confirm he hadn't been called back just a couple of months before ME2 came out? The same thing could be happening with Mordin now :/

Yep. That's why I'm still slightly hopeful.

And think too, the implications of changing Mordin could be wider spread. They could change Wrex, too -- who knows. ME1--ME2 was nearly perfect about bringing everyone back. I'm hoping for the same in the final chapter.

Jim Cummings will be back as Wrex, if IMDB is accurate/up-to-date.

No listing for Mordin, yet.

This is a strange development. I could understand maybe if the actor didn't want to or couldn't come back, but all indications are that this is not the case. Given the extremely positive response to his performance in 2, it's hard to imagine the developers simply deciding to go with someone else.

As people have noted however, the leaked Beta was full of text-to-speech, so obviously not all the VA was done, and given that the Sur'Kesh segment was the first demo, it makes sense that they would've gotten someone who was already recording, namely Meer, to fill in for the demo, but Beattie's recent comments, if that email is legit, make it sound like the developers simply decided to stick with Meer.

What's most annoying is that the developers are completely silent. Why can't they just come out and simply say "We couldn't reach an agreement", "We will bring him back", "We decided to change voice actor" or something, instead of just ignoring it.

All we can hope to do is make enough noise to attract their attention. Even then, there's a chance they're obligated not to disclose the information on their plans -- whether they intend to get Beattie back or not.

That they haven't contacted him as of November 8th is quite frustrating, though.

I believe there's a new VA director for ME3. I seem to remember reading the old one moved on, but I could be mistaken.

Cab Livingstone probably worked on the previous installments to some extent, at least, but he doesn't have an IMDB entry so I can't say for sure.

He's going to be reprising his role - they're probably still tweaking his dialog so it would be a waste to bring him in now.

Mordin is not a major character in ME3. Deal with it.

I could say the same thing about Garrus. I mean if Garrus can die in ME2, why bother getting Brandon Keener back? Garrus obviously isn't any more important then Mordin then.

I'm sure pretty Mark Meer could cover for him.

Definitely what I hope for, but Beattie's email response to Vertigo (Page 1 of this thread) is cause for some concern.

For all we know, Beattie could have been overreacting because he hadn't heard from them yet.

I believe you're thinking of Steven Barr.
Jim Cummings did Wreav's voice.

Sure, yes. Absolutely. For all we know. I completely agree with you on that and naturally I hope it's true. But for all we know that isn't the case at all -- and for that, and for once, I may as well make sure my voice is heard about something I'm unhappy with in the franchise.

You are correct.  I am derp.

My brain stopped at "Urdnot" and moved on, I always forget about Wreav...
