I keep forgetting he plays Lt. Groves in the PotC series.TS2Aggie wrote...
No, Ellis was going off to film the new PotC movie and didn't have the time to voice Anders. He had enough time to do a lesser role, though, such as Cullen.
So, what about Michael Beattie? (Mordin's voice actor)

No you won't, you are still going to buy the game anyways. I can count thousands of times people said they will boycott a game and ended up buying it anyways.RocketManSR2 wrote...
I will not be cancelling my pre-order until I know for sure, but this isn't looking too good. If BioWare dropped Beattie simply because he asked for more money, then that is bulls*** on BioWare's part. You didn't have the extra money to bring back the man who made Mordin so well-loved by fans, but you did have enough dev money to put in a MP component to ME3? REALLY? If Beattie is not brought back, I will boycott ME3 and I ask all Mordin fans to do the same.

This post would be more effective (or maybe not) if Mordin was just some random character.Mclouvins wrote...
I swear if that character named "Diplomat" from ME1 is not a permanent squad member and LI in ME3 I am going to boycott this game. His voice fit so well and what he didn't say did more for character development than what he did. Come on Diplomat fans, let's boycott and send a message that we demand every random character we like get more screen time than every other character...

The key difference being, that Mordin is a beloved character who was a major character in ME 2's story, and his voice simply fits his character more then Mark Meer's impression.

I'm wondering if people actually think like that or do they say it as a joke. I can't think of any reason someone would say that seriously.Killjoy Cutter wrote...

Can anyone fill me in on the problem that's stopping him from working on ME 3? Does he have some problem with the script.
I think more people should e-mail him more beg and plead with the guy. He was a fantastic voice actor, it's such a shame.
We had this same problem before ME2 with Keith David. Only a few months before release, he had not been contacted by BioWare to reprise the role of Anderson. Of course, that turned out alright.
+1. Mordin has an important role in the game, so they probably want to make his part of the script absolutely final before they have him voice it.
Barring something very strange, I have little doubt that he will be back.

Whether or not Mordin has less lines this time around, I'd be sad if Beattie wasn't there to perform them. He was brilliant.
It gets even worse than not having Michael play Mordin, the worst issue is that the guy they had voice mordin for the E3 demo absolutely sucked. I cannot begin to express how pissed I would be if that ends up being the final voice for Mordin in Mass Effect 3.
This game is getting worse by the minute. First they start targeting shooter fans with GoW DLC giveaway and Battlefield 3 including early demo access codes for ME3, now it looks like the PC versions of Mass Effect 3 will use Origin(same as Battlefield 3) which is in essence spyware and you give EA legal rights to dig into your computer far beyond the scope of the game to personal documents and history and used software and anything else you have on your PC and now they are about to ruin Mordin's character? Where does all this nonsense end?

Mordin was one of my favorite squaddies in 2, if it's a different voice actor it won't be the same! Beattie put the "Sol" in Solus, bring him back!

That's quite blunt, but also accurate. The thing is, people can pretend that withholding their money for a mainstream product will make a difference, but in reality the only thing they are affecting is themselves. The only outcome of someone not purchasing ME3 will be: that person doesn't get to own ME3. You will not make a dent on EA's sales figures. The only possible way you could make a dent is to have an organized movement convincing people not to buy ME3, and the only way to get one of those is to capitalize on a large disgruntled fanbase. There is no such large disgruntled fanbase, and no a few loud voices on the Bioware Forums don't count; in general, the Mass Effect fanbase is expanding and pretty much every single fan of the series is looking foward to the third installment.
And this is off topic, but StephanieBengal, you wouldn't happen to be a Cincy Bengals fan would you? I myself am from Cincinnati and couldn't be happier with our first Palmerless season. Who dey!

That's not entirely accurate. Loss of sales can cause an impact on EA but you need a large number of fans to go along with it.....like the way the PC gamers have recently rejected EA's Origin spyware program that led to mass outrage in germany and allowed opened copies with used activation keys of Battlefield 3 to be returned. The game's Amazon ratings have plummeted and overall I can guarantee you that EA HAS suffered losses.
Now will changing Mordin's voice actor have that kind of effect? Not really....a few may not buy but the majority will still purchase. But if BioWare requires PC gamers to install and run Origin(spyware) in order to play Mass Effect 3 the way EA did with Bttlefield 3 in combination with the ruining of Mordin's charactter then you may just see a substantial enough fan lashback that EA's profits will hurt.

However, if Michael Beattie is not returning as Mordin, I think that some kind of statement from Bioware would be helpful. Obviously we don't need the details but just an acknowledgement of 'differences' or something. There's no way they would replace him without reason.
If they just haven't contacted him yet... well they might be a bit annoyed with him backing a boycott
