Am I the only one who's really excited about ME3's action mode?

I'm sorry I missed it.

So am I. Looks like it would have been fun.

Just noticed that poll linked in the first reply. Wow. 535:5 against action mode. Now that's what I call a statement by the fans!

You do know that the people who regularly post on the forums and vote on those polls are a very miniscule proportion of the millions of people who buy ME games, right? Fan myopia is a huge problem on these forums. Remember Bioware's claim that 80% of ME players play maleshep, and the Soldier was by far the most played class. Yet one would never get that impression from looking at these forums.

Or they are a reflection of how the fans feel? Most "fans" play the game once or twice, then sell it for Modern Warfare or whatever new game comes out.

And those are exactly the kind of "fans" this "action mode" was most likely made for.

Action mode may as well not even exist for me. There are only two modes. Story, when I want to be really casual and just relax while shooting things in the face. And RPG, where I put the difficulty on Insanity and die a jillion times trying to shoot things in the face.

Multiplayer? Waaay later.

I'm excited. While it wont be used for the first few playthroughs it will be good when I just want to fight with some new classes or whatever (or on Insanity mode) Great to have more options to the player.

I am offended by the fact that Mass Effect 3 has an RPG mode.

Like, who would ever play with RPG mode? It's just boring talk and all that crap.

I know how Bioware can fix all this outrage over "action mode": introduce a new game mode designed specifically for BSN members! I am of course talking about "Dating Sim Mode"!

This fun new game mode removes all combat and replaces all dialogue with sappy, forced flirtatious one-liners and causes all characters (male, female, alien , Reaper, inanimate) to suddenly become Shepherd-sexual! A galaxy being invaded by Reapers? Who cares! There's dry-humping and creepy monologues to be had! Now, you can make Mass Effect the dating sim you've wanted it to be! Canon? Consistency? Established characterization? Please, we'd never let silly little things like that get in the way of pandering to creepy romance zealots who play these games solely to get into the pants of their favorite character! Try it out now and get all the dry humping and the cheesy/sappy dialogue and the creepy facial expressions you could ever want without that pesky story or combat interrupting your hawt Shepherd action!

Action mode... I was convinced that I was being ****ed with, and it was just an obvious joke first time I heard about it.
It's...for lack of a better phrase, "offensively retarded".

Protip: play "Action Mode" with the Kinect feature for a double dose of depressingly un-needed failure.

Oh crap, let's hope my "Dating Sim Mode" doesn't give Bioware any ideas...

I think that even if this forum is more likely to have a certain type of player, those numbers still indicate that this mode wasn't made for the ME fans.

If Mass Effect becomes more popular with those who actually like the action mode, then I would truly fear for the future of this series.
If you are not playing Mass Effect for the actual RPG Elements and the story, then you are not playing it for the right reasons and I have no idea why you would find playing Mass Effect solely for game play alone appealing.

I don't if I said this before in this topic, but I'll say it again. I think that if they could allow you to import a Shepard that beat the end of Mass Effect 3 and choose action mode then all the choices you made in the previous playthrough would be automatically chosen that way you could have a more cinematic experience.

For Christ's sake, action mode = automated dialogue. That's it.

The conversations follow a preset dialogue path tree, it'd still have all the RPG elements and the story isn't affected in any way.

very typical ea influence....be glad they aren't just dumbing down the whole game, as they did with some edits of their sports titles....

regardless of your feelings of ea, bioware took the time to make sure that it can appeal to a wide audience (thus making more money and making more games) as well as maintaining modes that will appeal to the returning me player....i think they did right by us in this aspect
