Just noticed that poll linked in the first reply. Wow. 535:5 against action mode. Now that's what I call a statement by the fans!

You do know that the people who regularly post on the forums and vote on those polls are a very miniscule proportion of the millions of people who buy ME games, right? Fan myopia is a huge problem on these forums.

Or they are a reflection of how the fans feel? Most "fans" play the game once or twice, then sell it for Modern Warfare or whatever new game comes out.

I'm excited. While it wont be used for the first few playthroughs it will be good when I just want to fight with some new classes or whatever (or on Insanity mode) Great to have more options to the player.

Action mode... I was convinced that I was being ****ed with, and it was just an obvious joke first time I heard about it.
It's...for lack of a better phrase, "offensively retarded".

I know how Bioware can fix all this outrage over "action mode": introduce a new game mode designed specifically for BSN members! I am of course talking about "Dating Sim Mode"!
This fun new game mode removes all combat and replaces all dialogue with sappy, forced flirtatious one-liners and causes all characters (male, female, alien , Reaper, inanimate) to suddenly become Shepherd-sexual! A galaxy being invaded by Reapers? Who cares! There's dry-humping and creepy monologues to be had! Now, you can make Mass Effect the dating sim you've wanted it to be! Canon? Consistency? Established characterization? Please, we'd never let silly little things like that get in the way of pandering to creepy romance zealots who play these games solely to get into the pants of their favorite character! Try it out now and get all the dry humping and the cheesy/sappy dialogue and the creepy facial expressions you could ever want without that pesky story or combat interrupting your hawt Shepherd action!

107:1.. That's a lot of people who won't use action mode.

If Mass Effect becomes more popular with those who actually like the action mode, then I would truly fear for the future of this series.
If you are not playing Mass Effect for the actual RPG Elements and the story, then you are not playing it for the right reasons and I have no idea why you would find playing Mass Effect solely for game play alone appealing.
