Playing all playthroughs with the same-looking (custom) Hawke - am I the only one?

I can't get myself to change Hawke's look from one playthrough to the other!

My fist Hawke was "THE" defining Hawke for me, and I'm going to keep his character design for the subsequent playthroughs. (It was also the fastest character creation I ever had - it was over in about five minutes, whereas usually it takes about half an hour for me to find the correct face for my (imagined) character...)

I think it's the voiced character. I'm very sensitive to voices; sometimes I recognize people easier by their voice than their face, and I associate the character's voice with my first Hawke. Changing his appearance would feel awkward to me, like my original Hawke dubbing a new actor...

So, it's the same Hawke (THE Hawke) for me in all playthroughs, with alternate histories, classes, and decisions, of course...

I'm quite happy with that decision, it feels absolutely right to me, and I just wondered if I'm the only one who feels like this...

To a point...I have two Hawkes with differing personalities. They typically sound different enough that I'm not thrown off by the voice. I actually found it odd to hear my first Hawke take a more aggressive tone which is why I created a second one to explore that personality type.

I couldn't make another Hawke using one of the same personalities as the two I have now.

My Hawkes generally have the same face. The difference being length of hair and amount of facial hair.

While playing Origins and Mass Effect, I did keep going back to the same appearance. I never really liked any of the facial hair options when playing as a non-dwarf, and with Mass Effect, it was hard to not make an ugly Shepard, so I kept going back to the one face that I could tolerate for the whole game.

At least with the Mirror of Transformation, I can try out different appearances without having to create a new character.

With the same voice coming from different faces, it didn't bother me too much.  I guess I just like variety, and see my different Hawkes as different people who happen to sound alike.

I always use the preset, if Bioware provides one. It usually just looks more.... eh... high quality than the face you can build yourself. Or at least better than the ones I can make.

It's the same with Shepard. His custom face is just way more high res then custom faces.

Yes, usually when you make a custom character then you have trouble making a new looking character cause the voice doesn't sound right...

I used default Shepard and then whenever I tried to make a custom Shepard it was really weird

I never use the default option, because I need the PC to be "my" character.

Like Arthur Cousland, I tried some variation and gave him black hair and black stubble instead of dark brown, in order to make him more "rogueish", but I already went to the emporium and turned the black stubble back to dark brown (which looks more like "light black" and goes well with the black hair) because it looked wrong...

It's funny that other people would think of this. I ask myself little questions like this all the time, and always feel like I'm the only one who would.

It took me a couple of characters to get the general look down, but I use the same face for every playthrough now. I think the voice has a lot to do with it, but not all. I DO NOT like the default Hawke. I feel that what you give the character by how you play them, shapes how they're going to look in the end.

I have trouble to role play to Hawkes that looks the same differently, but I have no problem in hearing the same voice for different looking Hawkes. Then again I replay mostly on the visual when communicating with people, not sound. Sound matter a very little me.

I replayed my original run with a tweaked version of her face, but otherwise they've all looked different.

I also find it hard (to imposible) to change a characters appearance, when I start over.

I started my first game as a female rogue with short dark hair, and liked it pretty much, but for my second play through I tried a mage and have been staying with her ever since. She looks like my avatar here, and except for tweaks on makeup and eye color I haven't changed her much.

The only trouble with this character creator is that, unlike DAO you can't see your char talk. That means that sometimes you get this char with a mouthful of "snaggle teeth", especially the lower ones. That gave me a lot of trouble at first, and many trips to the black emporium, but hey, I'm a girl, it's like going to a beauty shop!

I've pretty much got the char I want now, so don't change any more.

After I got the look I liked I never completely started over, I just used a previous save and started at the Gallows Courtyard with the same character.
