No romance an option? [No spoilers please]

putting it here.
From what we have seen, for example in the collectors
edition footage, both Miranda and Ashley (who on earth tells their "loved one"
to just bugger off without letting him explain that he was busy being dead?
><) will be making an appearance in ME3.
However, from what it
seems so far (not referring to the "leak" and avoiding it like the plague to
avoid spoilers) Tali will not be a part of the Normady crew itself and probably
act like a contact for the quarians in the ME3 storyline, which leaves Shepard
on the Normandy with a group of females several of which are scripted to try to
get into his pants, and we all know from almost every bioware RPG made in the
past years that there will be a moment before the final battle where the girl
you have been doing the best with will become your "official"
romance.
Now, my question is, does anyone know if it is possible to get
through these mandatory scenes in ME1 and ME2 without having it become romance,
or do all the conversations lead there one way or another? Should we, based on
the previous games, expect to be forced to like one of them, or is it possible
to stay "single"?
Asking so as to avoid having my ME3 experience get
ruined by discovering at the very end that one of the key moments of the game is
effectively out of your control. At least if you know beforehand its not as
annoying ^^

That being said why would you deny yourself the added immersion? romantic entanglements are some of the best parts that make us human, for my part having the option exist increases my immersion and my game playing experience.

Some people actually create characters that are dedicated to the Alliance and their regulations. Kale Shepard, for instance, my "canon" if you will. Has no romance. She's got a mission to complete and isn't about to risk her authority with a quick romp before Epic Mission of Death. Neither is she going to break regulations to get romantically involved with any member of her crew or get herself in a position where her feelings might override her common sense. That being said why would you deny yourself the added immersion?
Not to mention some people simply don't like Bioware characters.
But on-topic: Avoiding romances in Bioware Games is ALWAYS possible. Sometimes it requires going completely out of character, but it's still completely 100% possible.

There are always dialogue choices to reject romantic advances in ME/ME2, and the same applies for the third game.
There's even an option in ME3 to say that the mission comes first, as an explanation for why you didn't romance anybody in the first two games.

romances have always been optional. You can play through both one and 2 and never romance any of the characters many people have even done this not knowing that there was even the possibility of a romance. Anytime a romantic dialogue comes up choose options that say, lets focus on the mission, stick to business, that's not your concern etc.

To answer your question.
My Shepard hooked up with Tali at the end of ME2, and since Tali, as far as I know is not part of the crew on the Normandy, it is likely that she may not be an option for "final romance" (pre-mission, sex, whatever you want to call it
But great to hear they are optional! Now I just need the option to toss Ashley out the Normandy garbage chute

Without spoiling anything hugely, all of the ME2 romance options have quite significant 'final romance' scenes and conversations in ME3, if you want them to (well, as best we know from old scripts).
So yes, you can romance your ME2 LI in ME3, and don't have to worry about breaking any hearts.

You see no reason? How about that big, red, quarian marine called Kal'Reegar? Stands out against the background quite a bit, don't you think?Dilandau3000 wrote...
(Minor spoiler) From what I've heard Tali will be a full squad member in ME3 (provided she survived the suicide mission), so I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to continue a romance with her.
