Why so disgusted by the idea of Edi and Joker together?
The obese menopausing Joker fans are upset because their fictional lover is attracted to a female infinitely better than themselves.
Kinda like how some guys feel threatened when their girlfriends prefer the cucumber.

Where Fry tells Bender something along the lines of "That'd be like if I was dating a really fat girl and living inside her and she was all <swish swish noises>."

BTW: does anyone remember the affection between Rommy (Andromeda) and that engineer ... Harper? Looks as if EDI-Joker-love is a homage ...
Isn't TIM's name John Harper?

I don't know if that's a rhetorical question, but yes.
Neither do I know if I spelled rhetorical correctly.

I wasn't 100% sure as I only read the WIKI and I don't trust that completely. Oh and I think it's actually Jack Harper.

I for one hope the EDI-Bot leak is true. And no, not because it's a sexbot or any other pervy stuff some of you are coming out with. Fact is, Mass Effect is set in the future. We've seen enough human relationships in media. With A.I. becoming closer and closer to reality, very few IP's have challenged this human/A.I. romance possibility. I'm eager to see what Bioware will do with it.
The ONLY time I've ever seen this scenario play out where it wasn't some creepy scenario with an uncomfortably socially defunct loser and his computer slave was in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. And even then, it was only heavily teased at all the way until the end.
It's done so many times it's a cliche. tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RobotGirl
Edi would also match tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SpaceshipGirl
