K,  I luved the origional series and just finished it last week... ya, only a decade late but hey.   Also wierd because of my BGate fetish back in the day.... anywho..

On to nwn2, the camera is just boggling for me.  It was perfect in nwn, simple overhead view with all rotation or zooming with the arrow keys.   I do admit that I didn't spend alot of time on it to try and figure it out but after trying a few things with no success I just gave up.

Is there a way to get it to behave like nwn?  Can someone post a link/previous thread paweese ty

Basically its default settings are awful, but it's something you can customize so it's similar to most games.

Also,

it's not a dumb question really, it takes a fair bit of effort to get the camera working well ...

... have a look through a few Google searches of threads (the first few are pretty good)

and don't forget nwn2.wikia.com\\camera ... basically you're looking for Exploration Mode, but you have to tinker with it and set some of the .ini stuff up by hand ( Edge_Turn ).

The camera sucks under its default settings, and it's one of the biggest turn-offs for a lot of people. However, if you mess with the ini file as described on that wiki page, you can rig it up just like NWN1 (and as it was before one of the updates screwed it up). It's actually highly customisable, it's just that you can't change all of the settings through the game options window.

So will this program link do the trick?  I'll be honest my puter knowledge is non-existant.  If this is a quick fix to give the game my prefered cam setting then I'll be good to go.  I'd rather do it this way then change files.

I just sent that .exe file to VirusTotal and it really does NOT like. It might be just some queer code or whatver, but all it purports to do is sorta switch the right-click with the thumb-click anyway, so if you want a good camera yer gonna have to get dirty.

Don't be put off by editing the ini file - its really not hard & as long as you make a backup copy of the original file (save with something like 'backup' in the file name so you know which is which), you can always revert back to it if it all goes bad.

And it really makes a massive difference to play.

Remember - 'exploration' mode is the camera mode most like the NWN1 camera, while the 'character' mode is almost 1st person, and the only one that allows you to see ceilings (I think) - which is nice if you like an immersive camera angle.

Since you're new to NWN2, you may want to explore the AI settings on the character sheet - there are a ton of options that almost make the NPCs in the party intelligent, although some coder somewhere seems to have added some 'random' elements to their personalities when it comes to doing what you tell them!

Have fun & hope you enjoy the adventures,

Cly.
