yeah, title says it
What is the best Equipment for a tank that resists magic?

Spellward will obviously be my amulet and key of the city also has a small spell resistance (not to mention +2 for every stat)

I've heard of the Knight-Commander set which dispels 40% of all the magic thrown at you
However The Juggernaut set also seems to be anti-magic, only in the fact that it lessens the damage thrown at you
Or is there another set that's even better?

Any suggestions?

Note: I'm aware that the anti-magic line of the mage spells can easily kill the mages, but that makes the game just too... easy (even on Nightmare on the ps3)

that 2 item are basically the best spell resist equipment in origin. in awakening, you can make a 100% spell resist character easily with dweomer rune 3 paragon, 3 grandmaster, 1 spellward and key to the city. 1 less grandmaster if you are a dwarf.

I'm definitely a fan of the Knight-Commander armor. Because of that piece, I will often use Alistair in my parties, even though he's probably the worst damage-dealing warrior. As others mentioned, that plus spell ward plus spell resist runes can get his spell resistance very high.

As for the Juggernaut armor, I usually give that to Sten, though Oghren can make use of it just as well.

I'm using a dwarven S&S tank who
already has 10% spell resistance
will have spellward
will have Knight-Commander plate (he's wearing templar plate atm and he looks kinda funny Posted Image)
and probably spell resist runes and ring of the city
btw: can you get 3 dweomer runes in dao?

Oghren usually gets the legion of the dead armor because it's dwarven armor and he is... well a dwarf
I don't know why, but I think 'human' armor looks ugly on dwarves and 'dwarven' armor looks ugly on humans

I'm not sure on whether there are 3 dweomer runes -- there might be, remember the store merchants will have new, better stuff later in the game. I know there's 1-hand weapons that have 3 rune slots though, which if all have a spell resist rune is quite handy for a WAR trying to get his magic resists up. With what you just mentioned, you should be able to get very close to 100% -- I think I remember finding three 8% spell resist runes, but not sure about 10% runes - think I bought one from a merchant if I am remembering correctly.

Dwarf: 10% +
Spellward: 30% +
K-C plate: 40% +
key to the city: 4% +
Grandmaster Dweomer rune : 10%
Master D rune: 8%
: 102% spell resist

Good thing is that even without being a dwarf adding  another master dweomer rune is also enough to get 100% spell resist

And I'm guessing Champion is the best second spec...
or perhaps beserker?

And is the mace the reaper's cudgel actually worth considering to use as a main weap?

This is just 2nd hand info, but I thought I heard that berserker spec does the most damage for warriors (hence why Ogren does more damage than Sten). I've only had one warrior with champion spec and they burned through their endurance so fast...

That mace is a really nice weapon, certainly you couldn't go wrong with it as a main one. My warriors usually have two, mace/mauls for high armor targets (Branka, Loghain, etc.), and a sword/battle axe for the rest, since they do more damage. If the runes are an important part of your strategy than just the mace would be OK.

Yeah I've heard and noticed it as well, though the beserker spec only raises damage by 8 (which is a decent amount come to think of it), but the last attack is garbage... Hmm... decisions decisions...
Sten does less damage because he has no specs while oghren already has one. Sten will never be as good as oghren or the warden in that regard (except for his amazing personality)

Yeah, I know that maces are weak compared to swords and axes (kinda makes you wonder why they made them to begin with). i'm gonna see what happens, at the moment it only has 0.9 damage less than blighthood...

the only reason i keep reaper cudgel in my inventry is for money cheat... i dont like mace... keening blade and duncan shield on alister looks good with spell resist, element damage, armour penetration. only thing needed is silverite rune for that extra damage against darkspawn.
i am using a duel wield casteless warrior and i am still 100% spell resist without the knight commander armour. prefer the wades evon heavy armour for stamina regen. i did it like this
spellward-30%
cinch of skilful manuveour-10%
dwarf-10%
2x vesheille-4x master,1x expert and 1x grandmaster dweomer rune-48%
key to the city-4%
total 102%
vesheille have some nature damage, i just use poison for additional damage and stuns.
so there you go, another way without the knight commander armour.
the grandmaster dweomer rune can be bought from cesar after you complete the trials of the crows side quest under special stocks.

why would you want to wear armour that only works against mages?
The only real mage in the game that is a problem is Gaxkang to be honest, if you wish to solo him at nightmare and you aren't a mage
