Since there have been many discussion threads about BioWare's new elf design, I'm curious about the overall sentiment. So I've created this poll and tried to make it as simple and "neutral" as possible.

I'd recommend keeping comments, discussions and reasons in the appropriate discussion threads on the forums...

(Note: Poll was open for two weeks, and, as announced, the link is now gone. Percentages were stable for several days before that date)

You should give option for 'neither'.

Elves in DA:O are skinny humans with pointy ears, while the Elves in DA2 looks like E-T extraterrestrial.

I can't change it any more anyway, but you can choose "on the fence" if you hate both equally.

Yeah, neither.

I don't really object to the idea to make them non-human looking. But making them ugly or uglier than humans is a bit too much. I mean elves are supposed to be good looking for even for human standarts. Maybe if they made the humans uglier it would work better.

I have to vote sitting on the fence, because I like neither. The DAO elves just look like thin humans with pointed ears and DA2 elves look alien. If you are going to have them look like humans with pointed ears then the body type should also differ.

i wasnt super fond of the DAO version but i really do like the DA2 versions. at least they are more refined from DAO. i thought haters would at least appreciate that.

i get bored with tclassic looking elves though. liek the lord of the rings elves, and the DAO elves... etc.
i thought the elves in DA2 were very interesting, but my fave all time elves belong to earthdawn. they were built like basketball players, which makes sense (to me). slightly taller than humans and with a wiry, slender build.

but i also have to say i LOVE what they did with the Qunari as well. overall, the style in DA2 is very thick, the characters faces and bodies looked so detailed and cool. now if we could mix DA2 detail, with DAO skill system, a slightly better class system (but keeping with the current styled ability trees) and the loot system of the first game, i would be beyond happy.

DAO's elves were better IMO.

I like the DA2 elves. There seems to be this idea that elves must be extremely beautiful (by human standards, of course) with long ears. Put long ears on a runway model, in other words.

The re-designed elves are at least an improvement since they aren't human-sized with gigantic busts (for the females) and have other distinguishing features like the larger eyes, etc. I also thought Feynriel was done marvelously.

DA:O but only because the DA2 ones looked like they were all inbred. I like the concept of making them more than just humans with pointy ears but not the implementation or direction DA2 took.

Huge bobs ? I can clearly see that Merril's bust is much bigger than DAO Elf's bust.

I think we have a great compromise here: The "DO2" Elves...

Anyway, guys (and gals), there are already several Elves discussion threads right here on the first page. I suggest putting comments over there. This here was only meant as an announcement for that poll.

DA:O elves actually had pretty small busts. I noticed it when playing one and going through armour to equip for her. Then of course DA2 came along where Bioware just went ahead and gave almost every woman in Kirkwall a massive bust (even your character's mum ffs, my friend commented on that too).

Also neither. I can't think of either one's distinct features that would make me pick one over the other. That mostly comes from my indifference over elves in general.

Yeah, I hope BioWare will tone it down a little on the giant busts in DA 3. But we'll see.

As for the elves...eh. I voted "on the fence" because I think the DA 2 elves look good when they're constructed with care (such as Merrill or Fenris), but the DA:O elves look better overall. I like the idea of making them look more distinct from humans, but some of the DA 2 elves went a little too far. I'm looking at you, Tomwise.

Also, DA 2 Zevran is horrendous. I literally screamed in shock and horror when he showed up.

I like the DA2 look (yes, even Zev). As many others have pointed out they're no longer small humans with pointy ears, they are unique.

distinctive =/= good

DA2 elves might stand out from humans now, but they look gross. On the other hand, the Qunari have been made distinctive AND look good (in their own kind of way) so that's a change I approve of (though I stlll want to see the new Qunari in heavy armour like the codex claims they wear).

To be perfectly honest, I'd take generic, pretty, graceful fantasy elves with long white hair and chainmail bikinis over the abominations in DA2, that's how much I dislike them.

Imo they look distinctive and good. Ok, some of them are fugly but Marethari, Athenril, Merrill, Fenris etc, etc. look fine to me.  *shrugs*

Why is it that when she's wearing the Raiments of the Dalish Pariah, her bust size is significantly bigger than when she's wearing her regular outfit?

The design needs some tweaks, but over all I prefer DA2's elves.
