The re-designed elves are at least an improvement since they aren't human-sized with gigantic busts (for the females) and have other distinguishing features like the larger eyes, etc. I also thought Feynriel was done marvelously.

Huge bobs ? I can clearly see that Merril's bust is much bigger than DAO Elf's bust.

DA:O elves actually had pretty small busts. I noticed it when playing one and going through armour to equip for her. Then of course DA2 came along where Bioware just went ahead and gave almost every woman in Kirkwall a massive bust (even your character's mum ffs, my friend commented on that too).

actually they are all the same, by the way things go their bust size depends on the clothing theyre wearing, even the humans have it the same, as someone mentions Velanna wears the chasind style clothes and it looks the same on everyone, on the outside it does appear that she has bigger boobs but i think its different if she isnt wearing clothes

I'm on the fence. I appreciate the effort to make the elves more distinctive, though now I wonder how my own Warden would look as a DA2 elf.

I prefear the DAO one... But if the elf must look so distinct well.. Also the skyrim are distinct whitout look ridicolus donkey..

This. At least in Oblivion I could make an attractive elf. Now in Skyrim if I want to be an elf I have to roleplay being ugly.

Now on topic. DA2 elves got my vote, but adding a point of more effort being put into making good looking elf NPCs like Fenris, Merrill,  Lia and Marethari's faces. Several other ones were a little too bland. Though noticably better than short pointy eared humans in DAO.

Yes, come on. At least some of the elves in DA2 can be described as good-looking, particularly Fenris and Merrill. My eyes don't ache when I look at them.

I don't see what's so "ridiculous" about that.

Honestly i don't like the cartonish look of the elves of dragon age 2 i also don't find them attractive..
I like the skyrim elves because look maybe ugly but less cartoonish and don't give me the imperssion to watch a plastic pink navi when i look them..I maded a high elf actractive in skyrim is hard but is possible..

Elves are supposed to be beautiful. I haven't seen any real beautiful elves yet except in some 3D arts. So I prefer none.

So, from many posts in this thread, the best looking DA2 elves are those who most resemble humans? (Just to clarify, according to DA lore, half-elves are supposed to look 100% human, but anyway) Why not stick with "short, lightly built humans with pointy ears" then from the beginning?

(After all, the DA2 codex about the fifth Blight mentions "ancient treaties, which compelled the races of MEN to join arms against the massive horde." It doesn't say "compelled the races of men and those creatures who look totally different"...)

The claim that "DA2 elves look unique" is downright silly. They look like every standard Japanese fantasy anime elf in existence. And that's the reason they don't work in a Western RPG like Dragon Age. It's a clash of style. In anime, they don't look too different from their (young) human counterparts with both having those big eyes, small noses and small chin; the only actual difference is the smaller build and the pointy ears. "Humans with pointy ears", only Japanese-style.


I've posted this image before, but here's an anime screenshot where the DA2 style elves look believable. Why? Because humans look like "taller elves with short ears" there.

I vastly prefer the DAII elves.

I also find it bewildering that people think there are more ugly elves in the second game. I just went to the Alienage in my current game and, Maker, are there some ugly elves there.

As with most things surrounding DA2, there's no straight answer to give. I think the DA2 elves looked better when we're talking new characters created specifically for that look, or recurring characters who only had bit parts in DAO and didn't look remarkable there, like Merrill and Marethari.

For the rest of it, no I don't like how Zevran looked in the DA2 style and I think the team needs to do a lot more work on the identifiable DAO characters if they want to bring them back, because so far I think it's only Leliana who managed to be in DA2 without her look seeming..."off"...

Newsflash: Elves have always been "humans with pointy ears".

I don't like DA2's elves, they're ugly. Like...really ugly. Merrill has stick arms and big, bug eyes.
In fact, they look like malnourished na'vis.

I didn't like the DA:2 elves at all. I thought they were ugly, and every time I saw one I wanted to give them some food and tell them to take their finger out their mouth.

They changed Merrill's face to look more like a human one. She doesn't even look like the rest of the elves in the game.

The elves in Skyrim pretty much remind me of the elves from Morrowind, which I think was the entire point the creators were going for.
