It's clear the Asari straddle the line of being a legitimate literary concept and blatant fan service. Thus Liara was born, a decent character with believable motivations. Then along came Samara. I get the impression that the writers took a long hard look at Liara and realized she was basically fan service. So they set about creating a more credible character, one who had a compelling past and more believable motivations, one who had strict morals, a rigid personailty, and most importantly, one we couldn't do the Asari black-eyed romp with.  Samara was a step in the right direction. If she doesn't play a significant role in ME2, if she isn't a crew member, it will be a lost opportunity imo.

Considering Arrival and justicar code, I´m half expecting if she appears in ME3 it´ll be to try and kill Shepard regerless of the rest of ME3.

This card can be played with nearly every character. Miranda, Jacob, Jack, Kasumi, Tali. Take your pick.

All the human and asari main characters are sexualized to some extent. It's twoo. Samara's "sexualization" at least is solely visual. And let's not forget, she's an ALIEN. There's no reason to think that asari have the same attitude toward cleavage, nudity, etc., as humans. In fact, her massive cleavage is probably a sign that her outfit is "old-fashioned" for an asari, since the asari probably started buttoning their blouses about the time that they realized that human males tongues kept falling out, so probably a day after the two species met.

Not my intention. I like Liara, in ME1 that is. Her personality took a left turn for the worse in ME2. I felt like I was talking to a different Asari altogether.

Samara is simply a more fully realized and mature vision of an Asari. It's not suprising that the writers have learned and moved on, so to speak.

I don't see how anyone could seriously argue that there was less fan service involved in Samara's character than Liara, when Samara spends all of ME2 prancing around in a skin tight jumpsuit with a neckline that plunged nearly all the way down to her navel. She spends practically the whole game with her breasts nearly spilling out.

Without saying a word Onelifecrisis perfectly summed up the ridiculousless of the notion that Samara is less of a fan service character than Liara.

I should have canceled all those dates with women who displayed their physical attributes cause we all know they have no personality. =]

Not to bash Samara, since she is my favourite Asari, but Samara isn't going to any date and she would probably be insulted by that.

Wow I didn't expected those boobs pictures to pop out when I clicked on this thread.

Anyway i think Samara could've different outfit instead this horny looking one and horny in a attractive way, But Miranda's outfit is perfect, there is no need to change anything in it, face it most of us dudes love her "bump", but I like her Dlc outfit that armor is hardass.

If the DLC armor came with a full-face helmet for hazardous environments, and if it came with the stock game, I would agree with you.

Try going to Illium and find an Asari with a boring ass...this is my whole point. And you guys who think the fan service is exclusive to the Asari are deluding yourselves. Truth is, I'd rather Samara buttoned up as well - it seems more consistent with her personality - but I'm not going to throw her out the air lock because she showed some cleavage. That was likely an artistic/design decision made independent of the writer's intentions.

You certainly don't see mancleavage like you do with females unless you're in a sex scene.

The only instance where fan service might extend is booty shots for some men, but even then Shepard's armor even in the butt has pads and other elements that lessen the skin-tight, shape exposure element.

Sex appeal in men is reserved to the heads/face. The suits are armored up so even with the new James Vega, as soon as he's in battle armor you don't even see his muscular frame so much as you see bulk.

Liara isn't even that tasteless. She's in a fairly covered and professional outfit. Miranda and Samara/Morinth are the real perps here. Kasumi, while having skin-tight pants, seems to be done very in character with the hood.

If anything, I wish Shepard had a chance at a Kasumi-like armor with the cool hood, at least infiltrators.

I agree wrt Liara. And I don't necessarily think you're wrong about Samara. I just wish the writers and costume designers would talk to each other.

Fully-clothed dry-humping, just like every other ME2 sex scene. We don't want to anger the Moral Crusaders of Fox News, after all.

Miranda and Jacob were clearly fan service but Samara takes the cake.

Dunno. One would think all the publicity would lead to more sales, not less. That, and making conservative prudes angry is incredibly amusing. For me, at least.
