This card can be played with nearly every character. Miranda, Jacob, Jack, Kasumi, Tali. Take your pick.

Miranda yes, the rest not really.

Not Jack? Really? Belt bra a little too prudish, hmm?

I've never been sure about Jack. I mean, she certainly didn't attract me. Then again... I know a guy (who doesn't play videogames) who I'm pretty sure would cut off a limb to sleep with Jack if she were real. So yeah, I guess Jack too.

Jack is not wearing armor of any kind in combat.  Therefore, I have a problem yes.

I get the impression that the writers took a long hard look at Liara and realized she was basically fan service. So they set about creating a more credible character, one who had a compelling past and more believable motivations, one who had strict morals, a rigid personailty, and most importantly...

Samara's barriers are going to be extremely formidable. Actual combat risk is minimal, and asari prefer to wear light outfits during battle for maximum mobility (the commandos just seem to wear leather).

This. In fact asari commandos should have been the strongest fighters in the galaxy, but gameplay and the always changing lore makes sure that this doesn't happen. We have to remember that biotics are the most formidable warriors, and that asari can live up to 1200 years and are naturally biotics. All those years of training...

You'd think in those hundreds of years they'd learn the value of having a passive layer of protection to augment their barriers, deal with ambushes, protect against environmental hazards, etc.

But... that wouldn't be sexy, would it?

Why is it people don't want charaters to look good?

Both of 1 and 2 look GOOD. Though one of them looks silly, guess which.

Def. 2, I mean that helmet is just silly looking.

Actually my favorite Asari by far is Aria. I do also like Samara and Liara, in that order but Aria takes the cake in sexy badass chic.

Did you actually read the OP?

Edited to add:
As for the non-bold parts, I do get what you're saying, but really... it's such BS, I just can't stomach it. I mean look around! People are actually trying to rationalise Samara's outfit with speculative xenobiology and seemingly serious stabs at what an alien culture comprised entirely of lesbian wizards would think about exposed breasts. I really can't help but facedesk at this sort of crap.

Of course, I always read what the OP has to say.

In any case, Samara's outfit is ridiculous and the justifications some people make are just as ridiculous; no disagreement there. However, I'm sorry that your suspension of disbelief is so easily shattered. If you have so much trouble accepting the asari as an alien culture, please tell me you have just as much trouble accepting the idea of turians and batarians as well. After all, they're all equally rubber-mask alien. Asari are space-elf-babes, turians are space-Romans, and batarians are space-North Korea.

EDIT: I should probably also point out that the most alien species we have seen so far in the MEverse are the Thorian, the thresher maws, and the geth.

There is no Miranda in Mass Effect. For some reason though... everyone calls MJ Miranda  so I can see why people would make that mistake.

Oh it's nothing complicated or anything. Just read his post and that's pretty much the joke, except it's not funny.

Ugh, sorry for my tetchy tone there.

Oh, I do, I've said before that they're all humans. Quarians, Turians, all of them. But at least the other races do have some physical differences and in some cases (e.g. Krogan) act a little differently to the way humans act. Regardless, the teenage lesbian alien side boob biotic babe cleavage rationalisation garbage is something that only seems to happen with the Asari. [sarcasm:] Can't think why... *rolleyes*

We do get the Hanar as well, who are pretty alien.

Still, there's a lot to be said for the basic form of bipedal and upright, handlike appendages for manipulation sensory organs close to the brain, etc, as a basic planform for intelligent life.  First, you have this:  http://en.wikipedia....rgent_evolution; and then you have the way in which human intelligence, speach, upright stance, hands, etc, all seem to have been related in some way to each other.

The point is that it's possible to go TOO far in criticizing human-like aliens as a general concept.

I didn't mean to imply that the entire concept is flawed (athough, with the Asari specifically, I can't help thinking their entire race was designed to give the player a bisexual 14-year-old virgin to bonk); I just think that attempts to rationalise the parts that are blatant fanservice (be that an outfit or an entire character) to be ridiculous.

Edited to add:
My intial comment on page 1 was really just for a laugh, and not necessarily as a disagreement with the OP, slimgrin. Unfortunately it led to the sort of rationalisations that do my head in...
