If you've played ME2 and seriously believe that there is no MIranda in Mass Effect, then you need psychological help. Otherwise, you're just trollling, or think you're being clever or cute.

It's not cliver, and it's not cute, it's just idiotic. If you are a Tali fan, then you're just draggin the rest of her fans down with you by acting this way.

Not really.

It's just stupid if anyone thinks that one guy reflects the opinion of an entire fanbase of individual people.

And if anyone does, I feel sorry for them.

Well I hope you're right, but the way subfandoms snipe at each other on these forums, it's easier to conclude that one will often be used as an example with which to condemn all.

Yeah... who here remembers the last major implementation of Bushido as a organizational principle? Besides the Chinese, Koreans, Philippines, Indonesians, and prisoners of war of various nations?

I'm amazed every time people cite 'the samurai code' or 'knightly honor' as if it were a grand, noble thing.

They are noble paths (at least the seven virtues), you cannot make examples of it with deformations of the code itself.

Knightly honour is a literary myth.

I don't know enough about samurai to know for sure, but I suspect that their code was a poetic construct as well. Certainly the romanticised version of the social class doesn't live up to what I've read of the culture's history.

In both cases, much of the idealized "code" came into being when the people in question continued to be a social class but had ceased to engage in their classic form of battlefield combat on a regular basis.

Enough with posting stupid pictures and flame wars folks. The point was to have a serious discussion.

Hard to do that with idiots randomly posting "Who's Miranda?" and such.  I don't even particularly like Miranda, and I find the whole thing pathetic in the extreme.

My bad. Wasn't really keeping up with the thread & seemed appropriate at the time. On-topic though I was never really bothered about her outfit being all that revealing as I don't find her all that attractive & she has great character for those able to look beyond 'teh boobz'. She could do with zipping it up but I don't mind either way.

Earlier on in the thread people were talking about how Samara would attempt to come after you for the injustice of killing all those poor, slaving Batarians in Arrival. Considering Samara has said she has slaughtered entire villages just to get at one baddy before, why would she persecute you for doing almost the exact same thing (delaying the Reaper invasion of which she knows to be real). Your actions were entirely justified. She wouldn't murder your face off.

I think the Asari were originally designed to be a very fan service-y race but the way Bioware developed them through their lore and all that jazz I think has enabled them to evolve beyond that.

Though there's no denying the fan service aspect still exists.

Indeed. The Asari are still "fanservice" but they got way more character and their society comes with a well developed background. They're developed in a way you can say that race could exist. One of the things that doesn't work for me is "they can snu-snu with everyone and DO so because snu-snu with own kind is some kind of taboo now".

Whatever ... they're the sexy space elves ^^

Except.... Samara had like four kids after nearly a millenium. Matriach Benezia had 1 kid over a millenium.

Cletus in Texas had 14 kids(humans) in the span of 12 years.

See the difference?

Those 14 kids will only live to 1/10th of the lifespan of one of Samara's kids. One has more opportunity to cause havoc than all 14 together in each of their respective lifetimes. Asari are sneaky bytches; imposing their will through cultural miscegenation.

Cultural miscegenation. Cultural being the key word. I believe that for one to know where he or she is going one must also know where they came from. It is one way of maintaining the individual spirit, if you believe in that sort of thing.

And to be quite frank I'm a genetic mutt. So I'm not decrying what you seem to imply.

You didn't speak of their actions, just their numbers. The shorter lived creatures, and even some of the longer ones (Krogan pre-Genphage cure) can out-breed the Asari any day.

And considering that as Shep in ME2 you end the lives of hundreds of Asari in the Eclipse sisters bull****...  You, as a single human in your short, meager life-span, have destroyed thousands of years of work... It's just amazing!

The Asari wont conquer anybody via sexual relations any time soon.

They already have in a paragon/council lives universe (which is my canon by the way).

Which culture has been thoroughly dominated and bred out of existence by the Asari in a "Council lives/Paragon" play through?

I share the opinion that Samara's outfit clashes with the rest of her character.

That's just Samara's head on FemShep's body, but it's enough to make me think Samara does look good without giving everyone a free show.

Thank you very much for posting that picture. I also went to search some a picture of Tela Vasir from Lair of the Shadow Broker:

I like Samara as a character but my first reaction to her outfit was something like... I thought BioWare really tried to cater something for everyone.

There's been a lot of discussion about how characters look on these forums and I think the best solution would be give players a chance to customise NPC armours. This picture you posted really shows how that would be only a good thing.

I'm surprised no one modded Samara's suit zipped up. I'd have been all for it.

Exactly.

I thought that there were something important in the way NPC's looked and / or perhaps creating the models weren't as easy as planned or something... After seeing few fan creations on these forums I simple can't buy that anymore.
