That was my thought exactly.

Must be only locking the threads that are DA2 negative.

Very funny. "Hawke vs Warden" is different from, "I like this more than that because ____." There's no UI "showdown" where one beats up another.

I loved the Dragon Age 2 UI. I thought it just made sense when I played on the 360. I hope they keep it relatively the same in future projects. The DA2 UI is one universal problem you never hear about on the game.

Skyrim, on the other hand, is riddled with issues so much that I felt conned when I bought the game. It's like they chose not to beta test it. I'll never be preordering from them again.

One thing I won't stand for in any game is when I run into a continuous combination of warping npcs, warping animals, flying dogs, flying mammoths, flying npcs, game breaking bugs, quest breaking bugs, game freezes, framerate slowdowns, quest items stuck in my inventory, nonresponsive controls, characters' heads falling through a person's body when it's chopped off, consistent dialogue issues, constant obvious unintended physics-breaking issues, being knocked up in the sky (this happened so much a friend of mine didn't think it was a glitch), some kind of weird graphical glitch that couldn't distinguish the surroundings properly, constant lighting issues.

And for me, I'm not trying to make this sound like a 'versus' thing. This is actually my way of telling Bioware what I expect from videogames as a consumer and what I don't expect (aka bug-riddled Skyrim). But luckily I have never ran into any constant issues yet in Dragon Age 2.

While I have encountered like one or two minor glitches in Dragon Age 2, it didn't affect my overall experience at all. Keep up the good work, Bioware!

We are debating the relative merits of UI design and how PC gamers are being ignored when it comes to designing the UI for that platform. The OP was pointing out that he could not get into Skyrim nor TW2 because of the design of the UI. He was not comparing the content nor over all quality of the games because he cannot come to grips with their UI.

The discussion has gone on to note that many developers are creating their UI with consoles in mind and then doing a quick port to the PC without optimizing the UI for the PC platform.

'Dragon age U.I. puts witcher 2 and Skyrim to SHAME!' - do explain how that is not a comparison. If i started a thread saying Skyrim U.I. puts dragon age 2's to SHAME it would be locked.

Bethesda's games are a bit like that too. They're extremely ambitious for fitting into a console. Meaning everything, including the coding, is somewhat economic.

That said, my Skyrim works pretty good on my PC. I'm not gonna say solid, but nothing that gets much in the way of me enjoying the game.

So what? It's Bioware's forums.  <shrugs>

How is Skyrim's UI bad? I don't see anything bad in it. Works great, does what it is supposed to do... Same goes for the Dragon Age 2 UI.

Both are good and do what they are supposed to do.

My point is there is a no comparison thread rule, i'll be critical of any forum which goes back on its own rules.... you know what, forget it, lets only lock vs threads which show DA2 negatively, god forbid we discuss great elements from other games which weren't in DA2.

I might consider this a serious thread if it were in Origins forum. Comparing DA2 to Witcher 2 or Skyrim? what a joke!

i haven't ran into any game breaking bugs on skyrim. i don't need to kill da2 to prove how much of a thrilling experience i get from playing skyrim. i own skyrim on the console and pc. i own da:0 on console and pc. da2 i sold back after 3 weeks. the difference is...skyrim makes oblivion (a very good game) look like complete and utter crap. da2 doesn't do the same to da:o...bioware is a great dev. i have every belief that da3 will blow me away...

any arguement about ui is silly, "the controls are different than i'm used to!!! so it's automatically a bad ui."

i play on the console AND pc...adjust and experience the game. you sound like a bunch of fps fanboys...

No offense but I have seen you post before all over the forums and it seems to me that you dont actually like RPGs all that much.

It just seems like Dragon Age isn't your type of game; that you do better with Action games and Action RPGs - games like Halo, Half Life, Dead Space, Portal, Mass Effect, Deus Ex, Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City etc.

That doesnt make Dragon Age a bad game or bad series; frankly going by sales figures alone it seems that most folks disagree with you on that one. Never mind overall review scores.
It is just what you like and what you dont like. And thats just fine.

In future, however, please dont portray your OPINION as cast iron fact.

It's called comparing the UI, not the full game. Get your fanboy glasses off.

I thought Witcher 2 was more like, DA2 UI done right (in the sense they both went for similar aeshetics but the Witcher 2 pulled it off and somehow managed to fit seamlessly, while DA2's felt constantly jarring and in my face)

Skyrim UI is a clunky mess in comparison, yes.

See I don't agree. Whil yes, DA2 UI might not look good to the eye it works and is not a mess. TW2 UI is a complete mess. You have menues you can not even use unless you go into a complete diffrent menu thus making said menu useless. The character page is a nightmare and the inventory makes me want to kick small puppies.
/hates the TW2 UI

Would have no problem with that thread as long as you can give me reasons to that effect. I have no problem discussing the relative merits of UI design for any game.

I think you missed my point there. whether you are willing to participate in a 'Skyrim U.I. puts dragon age 2's to SHAME!' thread or not doesn't matter. My point is it would be locked for being a vs. thread.

OK, simply report the thread and have the Moderator move the thread to the Skyrim thread in the Off-Topic section. Problem solved. You simply point it out to the moderator and one of them will shut it down. The moderators are not the all seeing eyes.

Thats really stretching it... you should work for the EA marketing department (...if you don't already!! The Witcher 2 is pc only at the moment & developed for the PC. They still working on a xbox port.
People
are really trying to find any redeeming feature to try and justify DA2.  Whats next, its got the best box artwork?Skyrim and TW2 are both critical and financial success’s... DA2 is an embarrassment & joke when compared to them.

Yeah ..... how original.

I over reacted a tad but this is the bit that grated my carrot......"After experiencing the miserable (and unplayable) control systems ported to the PC versions of Witcher 2 and Skyrim"...... really, I dont think so.

The point I was making that the post smacked of deperation IMO, in trying to find a redeeming feature in DA2. I dont say that the UI in DA2 wasn't good but to say that the UI of TW2 & Sky are unplayable .....I think not.

<_<

To be fair, all three have terrible UIs. Skyrim being the worst offender.
