OK so today i started by downloading loads of mods and started dumping in-game items into vendors and earned a whooping 100 soviergns! plus the items included were also sometimes useless so sold those and they were quite heavy too!

I was wodnerting by downloading armor/weapons/respecizliation/redesigning mods are we essentiantly cheating or enhancing our experience?

my brother would say that mods are cheats while i would say they are not if they were they would not be limited to boundaries....

Is it true that by getting these good armor sets and weapons for free is bad?

I know this will be a highly subjective disccusion....

SO BEGIN....

I think some mod's -such as Improved atmosphere mod- enhance my game play, it's certainly not cheating.
Respecialization mod's are also an enchancement I think.

EDIT to add. If mod's are cheat's then so is toolset, concidering how much one can do with it.

What do you think of the various armorset which are offered?

Grey Warden Runic Armor Set
Devout Armor Set
Armor of The Black Fox
The Witcher Set
Wings of Velvet

i use all of the above
1.For my Dual-wielding PC
2.Must unlock
3. Leliana
4. Only the sword which is tier-9 is used by Loghain
5. Morringan

I have also used morrigan restoration patch

Well, the only Armor I've downloaded is the Grey Warden Runic Armor but it stopped using because it just didn't seem to look right.
I did however download lot's of mage robe's since the one's in game are yucky  and I always play as a elven mage.

Mods are cheats but it is your (single player) game so you are free to use them if you wish.

There is more to modding than just simple items and reskins.

I use armor/weapon mods for my character or companions, but they can't use them until the apropiate amount of dex/str/??? I have mods that add more quests, still they are as difficult or as easy as you want them, some armor mod you have to be around lvl 14 to be able to kill the mob that carry the items+set others is at lvl 9 in denerim.

thats not cheating, cheating is if you create a character and hit ( `) add 99str/99 dex/ 99 willpower.

A lot depends on what you are playing for and why you are playing. These games are not quite like FPS games where action and combat are the focus. There are other elements to rpg's. Are you playing for the story and your character's role in that story? Are you playing for the combat? Are you playing for the interactions of the companions? Or for all or a combination of all three? What is cheating basically comes down to what you are playing the game for and what you hope to gain from it.

Hope that makes sense...and have fun. ;)

What about mod's which fix dialogue? One can hardly class those as cheats since they simply fix what the DEV's will not.

Hm? I now have about seventy mods and most of them are not cheating... some fix things that should be in the game, some add companion or a school of spells, most are cosmetic, adding more hairstyles, tattoos, etc. Leliana sings nicely, so what's bad in adding another song she can sing? Or if I add a mod that gives few extra cutscenes for my LI? And some mods actually make the game more difficult, not easier.

But yeah, some of them are cheats. Utility Sack, that gives you the possibility to sell items wherever you are or enchant items as you wish. I humbly admit it - I'm a cheater. Feel free to throw rocks. :) On the other hand, I played DAO... I can't really count how many times. First few times without any mods at all. Now I like to experiment and I often check Nexus for new things. I installed Grey Wardens of Ferelden yesterday, for example, and I love it.

That's what I recommend to others - to first play the game as it is, then go and try whatever you want and play the way you want.

As i said above, people should play DAO the way they find most fun.

Most of the mods I have are just fixes for various aspects of the game, as well as some that add a couple of extra scenes here and there and others that allow further customisation of my Wardens' appearances. I wouldn't consider any of those cheats, and those bug fixes are actually quite essential for keeping the game enjoyable rather than rage-inducing. In my opinion, you're only cheating if your mods essentially put you into God Mode. That's not to say that cheating is bad, though - if you find your game more enjoyable with cheats, then why should anyone stop you from playing it that way? Games are about fun, not about rules.

TL;DR There's no 'good' or 'bad' about it - just have fun!
