[edit] Also? It sounds as if he's retconned Kreia out of existence. If he has, my fury will know no bounds. She was my favourite antagonist out of everything and anything ever. Ever. Revan and Malak were pantomine villans tying damsels to railroad tracks and twiddling their moustaches by comparison.

Oh no, he better not, or it's on like Donkey Kong.

Why must they degrade old protagonists? Let them have the ending they earned and stop tormenting them.

I don´t know but it´s a pattern that´s been going on for some time. Most times a writer goes back to a former main character is usually to ruin his/her life from the moment the older tale ended. While I was hoping Drew wouldn´t do that yet again, I´m not surprised.

I loved KoTOR and I loved KoTOR 2. But I hate it when they retcon crap. Seriously ME2's ammo system is a good example of retconning something. Then they go and destroy the Exile with a crappy death and so on and so forth. No thanks. I'll take my ending of KoTOR 2 over this TOR crap any day.

The difference though is Mass Effect seriously need the ammo system to being changed so I can forgive that retcon or well lame excuse in the codex but Revan/Exile terrible death adds nothing to the game. If only Obsidian could have been allowed to write how they die. I bet they can come with something much much better. Kotor II > Kotor I story Image IPB

Its most likely a fake Revan honestly this is something the public should not see and is a huge spoilier for something in game.

Did a tester take this?

Yup. The NDA was lifted ( spoilers allowed to be spoken about) so anyone in the beta can talk about his experience and record footage

I consider KotOR II to be the third best game I have ever played, and 90% of it is because of her. If she has been retconned I will be very angry indeed.

Kreia was so interesting in KOTOR 2. She was evil, but I liked her.

I never liked Kreia or her plan much. There´s only one way to destroy an energy created by every single living being after all. And I found her bitterness at the Force was hypocritical. She went against the balance and then complained when the Force kicked back.

I did like like she wasn´t a mad laughing villain, but that´s it.

Just more proof that TOR is the game nobody actually wanted.

Well I wanted it and still do. I played through Kotor 1 and 2, but I didn't really like the main characters. Revan was super cool, until they revealed him to be the mute, that I had been playing. :P

I can't wait to put him out of his misery in SWTOR, should I get the chance.

Is that really Revan? There was this discussion going on in the star wars forums that that's just a fake Revan.

Or maybe I'm just being simple minded and whising it to be otherwise :/

This <_< I really, really didn't want to see LucasArts milking the franchise for every cent by making it into a MMO. This just puts the final nail in the coffin.

Did LucasArts really have a say on what game SWTOR was going to be?

As for Revan being in the game, to me this type of fanservice is nothing new. Judging by what's been shown of the game so far, it seem BioWare has resorted to making everything similiar to the movies and Expanded Universe instead of coming up with their own creative material(besides characters). Almost everything in this game looks like fanservice.

Gah, I don't like being pessimistic. I'll probably still play the game, and, as I've said before, eat my words, but I feel like BioWare is giving us the same thing we've had in Star Wars since 1977.

Right, so what that plot summary is telling me is that the Revan novel is crap. The character also sounds completely foreign to my conception/interpretation of Revan, who was a character meant to be role-played, instead of viewed by a passive audience.

I have heard inferences that Revan doesn't necessarily die. But the book sounds horrible regardless. I've just started reading it and 3 chapters in I'm already sick of the focus on Scourge.

Er... I feel your pain, man, but you might want to avoid that huge spoiler in the title of the thread. Writing it and then adding "(SPOILERS!)" after isn't really useful - it's not as if one can un-read what came before. Changing it in "Spoilers about Revan's fate in TOR" would be a cool move.

Anyway, I had been fed that particular spoiler before. And I'm going to happily ignore it as I did with 99% of the unholy mess that is the Star Wars Expanded Universe (the two KOTOR games and some events from the jedi Knight series being the rare exceptions for me). It's not as if their Revan (the canon one of the comics and stuff) was my Revan (the one I roleplayed in KOTOR years ago) anyway.

There´s no canon Revan in the comics so far BTW. Miller kept him/her in shadows until s/he doned the mask (actually a fallen mandalorian helmet).

And please stay away from Zayne Carrick, Drew.

I see would-be story griefers are already invading this board. Folks who haven't even played the game, even.

What did they do to the Exile? Do I want to know?

Spoilers for the Revan book here. It goes over why Revan is in TOR and what happened to the Exile.

It sounds bad.

Seriously?! KotOR II's plot was incredible, and they just retcon it all away? I have a newfound hatred for Drew Karpyshyn.

He didn't retcon it away but he didn't focus on Kotor 2 so much as he was focusing on Revan and a tiein for TOR.

By the look of it, KOTOR 2 isn't retconned at all. In fact, The Exile appears as a force spirit.

I sure do hope that there's a little more to it than what is in that video though (or light side equivalent). Revan is the character who kick started the entire 'Old Republic' franchise of games, and has been canonised as an incredibly powerful jedi/sith - it seems utterly ridiculous that 3 nobodies could kill him.

But then, I suppose that's how MMOs work. Sort of like killing off 95% of the Warcraft characters in WoW...

I have to say though, my primary interest in TOR has always been Revan.  If that's all there is, I no longer have any interest whatsoever.

Knights of the Old Republic 2 had a great array of characters, with an interesting philisophical approach to the Force. When you discover Atton and Mira's backstory, you can see the human side to them. It sort of explores the human side to Jedi, and the overall characters of the game. The story is not truly about saving the Republic and triumph over the Sith. It's about confronting The Exile's past and put the demons to rest. I also kinda love how Nihilus and Sion was presented. They are abominations, whom both shows what the Dark Side will eventually do to a person. In the end they'll consume themselves until nothing is left. Kreia is one of my favorite video game characters for some time. She's deceitful, smart, neither dark or light. Overall I love this game. It would be such a shame to see that game's legacy be squandered. I liked Drew's Darth Bane books, so it's a shame if it turns out that he
