If you've been following Arms and Armor you know that I'm stuck where the game will not apply changes in Base Item Type. Even if I manually attempt to add an item to inventory, whether it's a new game or edited saved game, It won't read any of the UTI files, and isn't even seeing any new Base Types.
Has anyone run into something in one of the scripts that may be overriding my override (insert FarScape quote about dueling overrides, here)? Maybe a "Set Item Type" script, and something I can add to the module script to force the new item type?
This is extremely important, as it's created a major bottleneck in getting Arms and Armor to work properly. I can figure out the changes to make if I know what I need to do, I'm just not sure what to look for and where.
Is it in the Scripts?

I may be able to lend my neuron on this, since I'm playing on that same field for the forge, but I'm afraid I don't quite follow what's the problem is. You created new .uti resources with modified (custom ?) base item type, and they aren't taken into account ? (sorry if I'm a bit slow after midnight) (yeah, it's always after midnight, like for gremlin's food)

I left a comment on your project that may help (or may not).

That's correct. As an example:
Originally I made the existing longswords into a 2H weapon and created a new Base Type for a 1H arming sword. The game didn't recognize that I changed the base types of the different weapons to Arming Sword in the exported UTI files. This includes both in existing saved games and if I start a NEW game. Any weapon that SHOULD be an Arming Sword was instead still appearing as a 2H longsword. It doesn't even work if I try manually adding one to inventory; it never appears.
Craig,
What exactly are the names of the files I'm looking for, and where would they be located?

I'd say Craig meant the templates referred in the background_defaults table (in background.xls in its source form) as I can see some templates refs linked to the initial char in there :

Would make sense, but I'm not sure. Just speaking on the top of me head here.

Right, but where are the templates themselves located?

Also, I'd be looking for something that tells the game to use the custom Base Types PERIOD, as I can't even get these items to show up if I tell my module script to add one to inventory.
I found the "default human noble warrior" template under creatures, however it's ALREADY specified to use one of the 1H arming sword models. The problem is it completely ignores this and instead when I start a new game gives him a 2H longsword.
