I haven't seen any of the films or read the books.

However, IMO Stephenie Meyer seems to be a pretty solid writer. The Host was an excellent read.

Holy crap I forgot abou the host.  That was not half bad honestly.

Oh man, I love her!

I'm going to see the movie with my wife this coming weekend, and I'm honestly looking forward to it. She loves the series, and while it's not generally my cup of tea, I can actually enjoy it when watching with my wife, and I really don't understand the vitriol and hate directed towards it.

I think Nostalgia Critic summed it up nicely

I think Twilight's popular because there is more demand for vampire and werewolf movies then what is made by Hollywood, hence a below average vampire/werewolf movie can do very well.

i find the author's view of love and the human experience to be very very shallow. She either doesnt know herself very well or doesnt understand the thing she talked about very well.

If you want to try, don't ask about it on these forums, because you're not going to get a true opinion, you're just going to get what everyone has heard everyone else say and is regurgitating.

you sound different.

tell me about it.

why do you like it?
how does it relate to you?
what do you take from it?
where do you think the criticisms are coming from?

I like it because I take it as an action/slice of life story; I'm not looking for deep meanings. I'm reading/watching purely for enjoyment. It doesn't particularly relate to me, I don't take much from it, and there are some valid criticisms, but you know what? If one were to stop over-analyzing the story and just read to read (same as someone watching to watch--insert action movie of choice here) it's not bad at all. And, I think it has the best version of werewolves that I've seen recently (Huge creatures, not just a mean wolf).

nice way of just pushing us all into a nice little bubble to make your side look better.
I read all of the books I have more then enough in me to make my own opinions on this garbage and I find it hilarious that you would think we're all mindless drones for not loving it like the rest.
Irony at its best :P

I don't think ALL are. I think a massive amount are. Is it not popular to hate on certain things--Twilight, Justin Bieber, etc.?

Seriously, read them for yourself. It's the only way to really know.

I probably won't watch it in the cinema, but when it's out on DVD/Blu-Ray. As usual, wondering what they cut out/inserted/changed from the book, but as long as Alice is in there a lot, I'll be fine. :P

i think its more that a lot of people dont like either instead of it being popular to hate on them. i mean, if something is unpleasant, generally people will not like it.

I wouldn't say that.  DNF might help bring a better game in the future nothing good can come of Twilight.
