I jsut thought a thread about the steam sale of the day would be useful, just to discuss, and see if it is worth it etc. If it gains enough traction, Ill update the sale everyday. Deathwurm will do the daily updates, as he is always on when the sale changes, and I  will update the Midweekmadness and big sales etc. We may also feature GoG sales.

Novemember 21st: Cold Fear is onsale (50% off) for $4.99 USD

I like this idea.

I do have a question & I don't mean to derail this thread, but it is Steam related:

I hear folks often talk about Steam's Winter Sale...what' it like? Do the put lots of things on sale or feature just a few at a time?

Winter sale is epic. TONS of discounted sales, both weekly sales and daily sales.

You'll see entire developers and publishers catalogs on sale throughout the holiday sale. Then daily deals will be around, and some other weekly stuff. Basically, you'll want to check it out daily...you'll be kicking yourself if you miss the day that Batman Arkham City was 15 bucks.

Incredible really. Every day they put up at least a dozen games on sale for rediculously low prices. (some as low as 75% off!) So if theres a game you really wanted but hemmed about paying full price for you'll likely find it so cheap it feels free.

Obviously really new games wont be on the sale, but I've found some real gems on the last summer and winter daily sales.

Likely today, for sure this week, will be the Black Friday / Cyber Monday week long Steam sale. It's not quite as big and epic as the Christmas or summer sale, but it will have lots of good daily deals. If it's anything like last year, they will have packs of games for sale (like 6 copies of L4D2 for $15, etc).

So here's the 1st update on what will (hopefully) be a Thread we can continue for a long time. (I'll be helping Honeyydew out with this)

Today's Daily Deal on Steam is "The Dream Chronicles: The Choosen Child" for $5.10 USD, a 66% reduction in the normal price.

This is the 3rd installment in a series and Steam has tagged the Genre as Adventure & Family.

As always, it's a good idea to check the Recommended Specs if you're interested in the Game to make sure it will run on your system. It's only a bargain if your able to play it on your system...lol

Good Gaming, everyone!

Also entire Publisher Catalogs of game are somewhere from 40%-75% off sometimes even higher!

I really recommend this one. Great adventure game, with cool presentation and a really unique concept.

So...here I am ready to update everyone on Steam's Daily Deal and what do I find?

Steams Autumn Sale! It's running right now through Nov. 27th...and folks, it's MASSIVE!

12...count 'em 12 Games with special Deals for the next 24 hours and more to come each day and Sales on some Publisher's ENTIRE Catalog!

This can't be described here...you have to go to Steam and check it out for yourselves!

One that caught my eye right away was Mass Effect 2 for $4.99! If anyone hasn't played it yet or was looking to transition from Console to PC...NOW IS THE TIME!

Another notable that I can highly recommend: Fallout: New Vegas for $9.99 and all of it's DLCs on sale as well!

I don't say this often...but Squee!

I took a long hard look at the two Mass Effect games for awhile there. I decided to stick with my physical copies after checking the forums and discovering serious issues with getting Bring Down the Sky to work on the Steam version. I rather keep using the box for that game without any fuss.

I did pick up Portal 2 for a measly $10.19. :D The New Vegas DLCs are tempting, among other games. But I think I'll wait to see if any of them are marked down on following daily deals on the off chance I can get them even cheaper.

TDU 2 for £3.74p :D

Even Duke Nukem is worth a buy at £5.09p.

I see the COD games are still over priced even when on offer £19.99p  for black ops :(

Wow. Yeah, if anyone doesn't have that yet, they should get it while the sale is going. I played Portal 2 on release and it's a great puzzle game. Hilarious too.

I'm looking at Drakensang: The River of Time for $9.99 and its' DLC for $4.99...I'm going to wait, but I don't think they'll be getting any lower than that. Drakensang: The Dark Eye would also be a definite buy, but I searched the net to see if it's Windows 7 compatable and I found things that said it is and some that say it isn't.

Kind of interested in Ego Draconis since I'm playing Divine Divinity now, but it would have to come down from the $19.99 it's at as of today.

Absolutely getting Cthuhulu Saves the World. I hear it's funny and retro and it's on sale for $1...at roughly 8 hours of gameplay I think it's worth the risk Image IPB

I think the general rule for these end of year type Steam sales is only buy if its a Daily Deal and if it never becomes a Daily Deal, just get it on the last day. That way you're making sure you're getting the best price.

I had Drakensang running on Vista 64, so I guess it should run on W7. Of course make sure not to install (older) games in the "Program Files (x86)" folder. This makes sure that any data files there aren't replaced by the original ones backed up in the so called "virtual store" (a mechanism in Vista and W7 to "protect" installed software). In the case of Steam make sure Steam is installed in another folder as well, because the virtual store is active for any file in the "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)" folders and in any of their subfolders (no matter how deep they are nested).

I think you'll like Drakensang, Deathwurm. It has a classical RPG style, but it is still 3D. It's a rather complex game (in terms of game mechanics) compared to the newer RPGs and reading the manual is no luxury. ;)
