I think the general rule for these end of year type Steam sales is only buy if its a Daily Deal and if it never becomes a Daily Deal, just get it on the last day. That way you're making sure you're getting the best price.

All should heed these words of wisdom. Spoken like a true acolyte of the Gaben Brockololly.Image IPB

Absolutely the way I was thinking, as well. I'm actually expecting some sort of sale on GoG as well (Which Honeyydew or I will post about here) so I have to start dialing my enthusiasm a bit. My eyes are getting bigger than my wallet!

Thanks for the info, Angry...one of the things that makes Drakensang so attractive to me is all the reviews that talk about how intricate the ruleset and gameplay is.

I took a long hard look at the two Mass Effect games for awhile there. I decided to stick with my physical copies after checking the forums and discovering serious issues with getting Bring Down the Sky to work on the Steam version. I rather keep using the box for that game without any fuss.

I have the Steam version of ME1 and had no issues with Bring Down the Sky, if that helps you decide.

Hey guys.

Orcs Must Die! is a ridiculously amazing indie title on Daily Deal for $3 right now. Its DLC is under a buck.

Seriously, for $3, it's kind of outstanding.

Duke Nukem Forever - 6.79$ Hail to the king baby.

It's kind of hard to wait for the best opportunity to grab your Wishlisted games, i mean, the games just look at me innocently, waiting for me to press "Add to cart", all while being dirty, dirty cheap.

Help! they plot to take my money! those darned sales will be the death of me, financially speaking.

I'm not cheap, but I'm not rich either. :P I also use Steam because I exclusively buy games in digital now. I did pay full price to preorder SRtT. These Steam sales are great to pick up games I want, but I'm not willing to pay full price for. It's also handy to get digital copies of games I already own.

Well least your not a Poor DUMB Bastard,

See the bright sides. And nah I was being somewhat serrious it seems alot of people on here just use Steam to buy things cheap...I mean between that and all the sales they always have I don't get how they stay open...then again its not like digitalized games cost them crap. Minus bandwidth at least and royalities.

Actually, Ken I was wondering the same thing about Steam...you look at some of the prices they have things at on sale and it really makes you wonder how they stay solvent.

Any sale is going to increase traffic to your Store, whether it's brick & mortar or on-line, but I've only paid full price for 3 out of the 4 New Vegas DLCs since I first started using them earlier this year. (Courier's Stash is 99 cents during this Sale BTW)

But, heck...I'm certainly not going to buy something at full price every once in a while just to be nice back to them.

Should probably take this opportunity to let anyone who didn't notice know that DCUOnline is now on Steam which is terrific because, even though it's F2P now you can handle any microtransactions through Steam and not Sony...I wouldn't trust Sony to keep my birthdate safe after everything that's happened with them this year, let alone a CC number.

How Valve experiments with the economics of video games

These sales are, oddly enough, huge money makers for them. At least based on what they are willing to let slip about their sales figures. I think that, combined with the sheer size of their growing user base are two factors. Despite all the competition out there, Steam is still the biggest game in town by leagues.

Does my post portray me as a cheap bastard Ken?

Buying games thorugh Steam is very convenient and their service has really improved.

The way i see it, when i take several personal factors in count, Steam's pros outweighs the cons, regardless the price.
The games being cheap is just a nice bonus-factor.

Any Opinions on Portal 2?

Holy smokes! Fallout: New Vegas is $4.99! Definitely worth it if you don't already own the game. The DLC is also 75% off. Time to snatch up said DLC for chump change. :D

Edit: Also... ouch! L.A. Noire is being sold at 50% off already? That released on PC around two weeks ago. Harsh.

What's wrong with trying to save money?

Edited to add: Portal 2 is great fun. If you liked Portal, you will likely enjoy Portal 2.

Definitely grabbing 3 of the FO:NV DLC packs I didn't have already. Really tempted by LA Noire.

Beat to the punch by seagloom here (trying to take my job away darling?...lol)

The deeply discounted 12 super-fun-mega deals at Steam did just roll over and in addition to the two that seagloom already mentioned others that caught my eye that may be of particular interest to the BSN community:

Two Worlds II priced at $13.59
Monkey Island Special Edition Bundle priced at $5.09
Total War Mega Pack at $12.49

Again, there are 12 very special deals in all, so check Steam to see if the others appeal to you.

I have to highly recommend Fallout: New Vegas at that price and with the Sale extending to the DLCs I don't think you could possibly get more value for your Gaming money! I played NV (with all four of the Story-based DLCs) over the Summer and into the early Fall and got 320+ hours of playtime out of the Game (I do tend to play a little slower than most folks, so your Mileage may vary) I am not very good at 1st/3rd person Shooters, but had no problems playing the Game and I have to say that not only does the Main Game and the DLCs tell a terrific Story, there are smaller very interesting Stories throughout the Mojave Wasteland.

The Autumn Sale is generating an enormous amount of interest and I did get hung up or lose my connetion a couple of times while looking all this up, so you may want to give them some time and check them out after a short wait.

I will be keeping an eye on GoG as well to see wht they're doing this weekend and will update everyone here as soon as there's news from them.

As always...Good Gaming everyone! Image IPB

Excellent puzzle game, and you may find it humorous depending on your tastes. Well worth 15 USD. Was 10 USD before, but doesn't matter.

Probably one of my favorite games I've experienced, for both the single-player and co-op.

I am exerting an amazing amount of self control with L.A. Noir at that price! As silly as it sounds, it is more than I can afford to put into one Game at the moment. Here's hoping they match that price during the Winter or Christmas or whatever sale!

NV is a steal at only $5. Thats crazy.

But LA Noire....yeah, I haven't heard great things about the PC version being a good PC game. Mostly it being another crummy PC port. You have to wonder if Rockstar really gave a crap with that version in the first place though, seeing as they released it right alongside MW3 and Skyrim.

Ask anyone who bought TW2 from Steam how much they like the client and that fat hosebag Newell.
