That is good advice. Though I'm feeling a little inept at navigating at the moment-- are the 6 items at the top the only "daily deals" for today (aside from Flash Deals)?

Yes- it looks like they're keeping the Daily Deals going for actually 2 days basically. So they'll have new Daily Deals when they update at 1pm EST but still have the previous Daily Deals still going for 24 more hours.

Then you've got the Flash deals which change much quicker. As I recall from the Summer Sale, the Flash Deals might occassionally repeat too, and they're often the same discount as the Daily Deal, I think.

Everything else is discounted too, but basically if you want the best price guaranteed wait for a Daily Deal or a Flash Deal, otherwise just wait until the last day and buy it.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Amazon's digital download service has been matching Steam sale prices for the most part. So if you still want a game on your Steam library, many of the Amazon digital download games have Steam codes you just redeeem on Steam plus you get $5 credit you can use towards certain games in January.

Now to figure out what I want to try and get... already have a backlog of stuff from the Summer Sale, but Rage for only $4.99 is tempting. Might try to get Mark of the Ninja and the Skyrim DLC too.

Yeah...I know its got its share of issues, but I think $4.99 is the cheapest I've ever seen it. I'm sure it'll be this cheap again come the Holiday Sale too.

Damn, I should try to login in to Steam without looking at the store page - it's hard to avoid spending when the prices are so low.

Couldn't help buying Dead Island GOTY for $6.79 and Dungeon Defenders for $2.49

I got Dear Esther on a flash sale, for $2.49 or something ridiculous like that, and it was well worth a play.

I checked Origin to see if there were any sales deals and here is the only deal they have right now:

"HOLIDAY FREE SHIPPING
FREE STANDARD OR ECONOMY SHIPPING NOW THROUGH DEC. 21"

<_< sounds like a fantastic deal for a digital download store

...Meanwhile Steam is extracting all the money out of my wallet.

Origin is pathetic when compared to Steam. Not only in quantity of games (this can be attributed to age, though), but quality of the software and sales as well.

It's not advertised on the jump page, but Bastion is on sale for 50% off ($7.49) until November 27th.

I bought the Skyrim pack for 42 USD, which is a decent deal. I also got Napoleon: TW pack for only 7 USD..that is a steal IMHO. If I did not have Deus Ex: HR already, I would buy it now - for 5 USD it's pretty much free.

I love Steam.

I bought Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition, the price is amazing. Steam is amazing. Origin sucks & will always suck. I hate it.

I didn't play Dragon Age Origins since I heard the sequel is awful. So why play the original then? Well I was talked into it & the price was too good.

Love Steam. Hate Origin

Nice the CIV V stuff is on sale.. can get the whole game and all the DLCs for $20. All I needed was Gods and Kings though, but $7.50 for it is a steal.

Borderlands 2 at $30 is very tempting, but I have a ton of games I'm playing right now. It would probably just sit in my library until the next big Steam sale where it could be sub $20. Dishonored looks tempting as well. I haven't really researched it much though.

That has been my rationale for holding off on quite a few tempting deals so far. I figure they'll all probably be on sale again in a month for the big Christmas sale... or eventually they'll just go down in price to the same level over the course of time, since I have a lot of backlogged games.

I just picked up Dishonoured and Torchlight II. The only other must have on my list is Spec Ops: The Line, so I'll get it before the sale is over

^^ At some point I am going to get Spec Ops: The Line, too, but I bought Bastion and DAO Ultimate Edition, now I am stopping myself from any further damage for the moment. There's always the Christmas sale.

You did the right thing. DA:O is a great game (probably the last great RPG BioWare will ever make).  I can only think it was as good as it is because they had worked on it before being acquired by EA.  You can definitely tell how far downhill they've come when you try Dragon Age 2, bleck!

I bought The Witcher 2. Again. I already have GoG version, but for 7 EUR, I could not resist buying a Steam version. The game is that good.

Fallout Collection, including Fallout and Fallout 2, is on sale right now. If you like RPGs, go get it. These are some of the best RPGs ever made, and the gameplay is surprisingly fun, too, and not at all convoluted like in many other older games. I can only recommend them.
