No matter what they do, nude and sex mods will always be free since they can't be hosted on Steam Workshop.

So I'm not too worried about it.

But what if the people who normally make nude mods decide "I want to make some money" they will then make squeaky clean weapon or armour mods that will get picked up by a much larger audience then a nude mod.

Someone somewhere will make a nude mod for free...

then valve should give them a real job as freelancers instead of taking 75percent of the profit without the perks of being employed.

tbh we already have donation boxes for the modders, id rather have that than have the modder community be undercut something that valve is monetizing.

Agreed. Modding has always been a communal thing. When it gets turned into a business I feel it could drop that aspect greatly. That isn't to say modders couldn't or shouldn't be paid. I would just much rather donate to a mod author by my own will for a mod I feel is worth it. Rather than having to buy it out right.

This, and if no one does it, I'll just make my own.

Just remember that most people create mods out of sheer passion. Even if game developers finally allow them to charge money, the majority of them will still share their mods for free.

Darksiders Franchise is 80% off. This is Darksiders and Darksiders II and I think all the DLC for DS2 for 12 bucks. I recommend them they were a blast on the 360. I bet it'll go on sale later this week. Maybe for the same or lower price.

Assuming that freelancers would make more than 25% for the moment. .... what if that deal isn't worth it to Valve?

Why not? Steam blocks the content? Really? That's where they draw the line?

You can make mods where you kill children and you can't mod the nude form? What a bizarre world we live in.

The only way it wouldn't be is if they actually had to do quality control and monitor the work content. Which they don't have to do, as they state they wash the blame off their hands and leave it all to the developer. Which is the stupidest thing I've ever heard, but that's what they say...

Well, that's the thing... do they make more than 25% as freelancers if Valve or Bethesda has to do that stuff? Or do they make zero because it isn't worth hiring them at all?

The Nexus isn't the answer because the Nexus (and the modding it supports) will never become more than what The Nexus already is... on the fringes, known-but-not-accepted, an entity outside the industry.

The only way modding grows (or survives in a world progressively less inclined to support it and more inclined to actively build against it) is by giving those making the games a very good reason to like and help modding.

Yes. Overall, but in the case of nude mods......It's fine because Nexus.

Shouldn't fringe mods be hosted on the fringe?

Not if they are consistently in the Top 20 Mods downloaded. Which, let's face it, the top Nude/Sex mods are.

It would be like Google saying they wouldn't show Internet searcb results with porn. The Internet without porn misses the entire point.

I long for the day Steam starts hosting Loverslab mods. That will be a sign of the impending apocalypse.

I don't follow the argument. Steam isn't required to stock porn any more than Amazon is required to. Unless you're saying that Amazon is required to stock porn?

Does Amazon not stock porn? That kind of blows my mind.

Although with mods, I think it is a little different, since all content is user created. It might be more like if EBay allowed people to sell their stuff, any stuff they wanted... as long as it wasn't porn.
