I just thought Cassandra already had a good connection with the story and it's someone we're familiar with. True that it would never happen though due to her being impossible to be a mage though. Like I said though, I'd rather have a set character, or something along the lines of Origins.

I'd much prefer Shepard or Hawke level of customization than be forced to play a Geralt or Cassandra. This notion that being "in the middle" is somehow bad by default makes no sense at all.

It is bad by default because of mismatched, clashing expectations. Being able to customize the character implies a full degree of character development by the player, while the cinematic presentation denounces no character development by the player. Both stances clash "in the middle", neither giving the player full control over character development nor fully realizing the presentation possibilities of fixed character.

Not necessarily -- it can very well be just visual customization for visuals-oriented player, which can be seen important/valuable in a cinematics-heavy game.

Oddly I'm agreeing with tmp on this( I'm not feeling well) changing something from the default is customization even if its something as minor as a hair colour change your simply implying that it means a full degree of character development confusing your personal opinion with fact, you may believe what your saying but that does not make it so

Why would a more defined character be better then?
I simply cannot understand that concept...

Robert Frost once stated that writing free verse was like playing tennis without a net. Constraints might feel... constraining, but the problem with an undefined character is that you're usually sacrificing depth for breath.

These things... plus i would like to see cities which are full of life rather than the boring, drab, lifeless Kirkwall.

It seems like a matter of preference. I like having this particular mix that preserves some customization elements I value while giving the presentation possibilities of a fixed character I also value. Unless you're implying "all or nothing" is objectively the way it should be, in which case I still don't see it.

Avernus and Tallis as player companions.

Plot idea: Earthquake hits Thedas and causes a portion of it to collapse into the Deep Roads and darkspawn filled caverns.

No more generic looking balding/bald white-ish space marine type characters.

Red Facton Series, Max Panye 3. Too Human, Mass Effect Default Male Sheploo XD, Infamous, Protoype, Force Unleased 1/2 (Sorry Starkiller but you fit it) Warhammer: Space Marine :P And on and on......

Variety is the spice of life. Id want varied enviroments too. I loved you DA2 but recycling didnt help.

id like another game with the wardens in it perhps 500 years in the future another old god awakens and another blight falls on the land? being a warden makes u feel more important than being some dude with a little power in one city i mean u have to save the whole world from this blight.

I have a feeling that DA3 might be in Orlais, since Bodahn was going there.

There might even be some quests in Qunari lands, and I see a repeat of Tallis for DA3.

It would really be something if you could have Flemeth in your party, morphing into a dragon.

  • Steal the character creator from Saint's Row The Third.  This way I have have a hugely muscular mage or an archer chick with enormous cans.  This is important.
  • Kill more Qunari.  I hate the qun's slavery.  It is bull****.  I want to be able to kill more qunari.
  • Steal Skyrim's character management.  Eliminate attributes completely.  They are useless holdovers from Ye Olde RPG times.  Boring!  Get 'em out of here.
  • Steal Skyrim's classless characters.  Give us more skills and abilities that we can choose from to assemble a character we want.  If society is breaking down as much as the story of DA2 suggests it is... what better way to demonstrate that than a mage wielding a sword just as well as a warrior?
  • No trash loot.  Pointless.  Bump up the gold reward from quests if you must, but trash loot should be gone by now.  Anything I pick up or examine should have a use or a purpose.
  • Mesh flavor test into the world.  I loved how MotA had paintings you could look at and get flavor codex and such.  That was kick ass.  It's so much better than having to open my inventory and look at trash loot.
  • As nice as the animated cut scenes were, they have to go away.  Replace them with montages of the characters with character models.  There will be more of a feeling of continuity between acts.
  • Continue to let me spend more time playing the game and less time preparing to play the game.  More DA2 than DAO, but a shading of DAO would be welcome.
  • I can accept that the inventory management "game" is creeping back, but please, please, please beat it to death with a burning torch before it gets back to DAO levels.  Having a great look in cutscenes is far more important that being able to choose between 17 points of Aardvark Stroking and a +1 to damage, or having 19 points of Aardvark Stroking and no bonus to damage.
  • Mage pants must return.  Mage shorts?  Mage skirts?  I know-- the technology might not be there yet, but do what you can BioWare.  We're all counting on you.
  • Hawke's Smoking Jacket must return.  I like that character have "downtime" clothes.  There is nothing dumber than seeing a dude in full plate armor sitting some place during a cutscene.  It's just goofy.

What i dislike about DA2 and origin is that both the warden and the hero are just plain human. Even though they both wield 2 meter long sword or create a firestorm in the middle of the battlefield they have no unique abilities on their own. It's better if the hero is someone special who wields the soul of an old god or something.
My hawke is a badass reaver who drinks the blood of his enemies and wields a sword that cut directly into ones soul. My suggestion is create a hero who could do something more badass like tearing and manipulating the veil, something unique and special for him.

other things
-shinier and unique items and add a background story to each of them
-more handcrafted unique dungeons
-elaborate the codex
-more badass magic like the ones used to destroy the chantry
-make templars dispel magic & hostile mages more magic
-get back to saving the world from utter destruction

I like that. That could be a specialisation: Fade Manipulation. You can call upon the spirits of the fade to fight by your side or something. Or, during a fight, dip into the fade (so you disappear from the real world), walk a few paces, and dip back out of the fade so that you're in a new location in the real world so you can get behind enemies and stuff.

Hey guys, this whole 'Flemeth vs. Morrigan, army of heroes' stuff sounded cool at first but to be honest it seems too expected and even a little cliched.

Even the people at my school who have played the Dragon Age games and don't go on internet forums or know all the lore of DA have came up with this theory by now...

I suppose anything that is done right can be good but still.

1. An art design that has no trace of manga/anime influences.
2. A dialogue system that gives the player maximum control of what his/her character is going to say. I don't care about voiced or silent as long as I am not surprised by what my character has to say. The bottlenecked personality system of DA2 needs to go away, as do the intent icons on the dialogue wheel. A voiced character would ideally need more than one voice to choose from (possibly very expensive - but the reason I could never identify with my male Hawke was his voice).

Apart from these two critical issues, a direct-response combat but with the general speed & tone of DA:O as well as interrupts like in the ME series would be neat. I would also prefer an epic story.
