WoW Final Fantasy! Never did finish those games. Bored me to death... Not a game for me. Maybe this is not the game for you?

Your comparisons leave much to be desired. There is no logical link between immersing yourself in different cultures through beautifully rendered environments with thousands of lines of dialogue and voiceovers, to visiting pokemon gyms. Your precious playtime can be increased further by chasing up the various sidequests. Furthermore it is easily possible to complete what few classics you mentioned in under 50 hours. In addition, the playtime is not such a major factor in defining a 'classic' RPG. Although Dragon Age is still five times longer than the majority of titles out today.

Also, you're an imbecile. And we are considerably smarter than you.

I can do a final fantasy mod. Easy to bring the playtime up to 200h if I drop a random battle on you every 2 minutes :P

Length of a single playthrough is a poor measurement of entertainment value.

But will there be waffles?

Yes but they will shoot fireballs at you and won't be edible.

Here's a thought for ya, companies that did Fall out 1 and 2 went out of business and were bought up. Bioware knows what it is doing. Also to complain about length about this game is absurd.

Getting 20 hours out of a game is rare today. DA:O delivers.

Due to my job I can only play the game for a couple of hours every day and some days I don't get to play it at all. Add to that I'm a slow player anyway with 28 hours played and 20% completed. This game is gonna take me months to finish and I love it!

Its only rare if you don't play RPG's.  Can't remember the last RPG that took me less than 30 hours to complete.

I play almost exclusively RPGs.  Though, I play on consoles, so there's that.

uuuhhh it took me 60 hours to complete this game and I had about 20 side quests not yet completed... I moved pretty fast, I could probably do a speed run of 25 hours or 20 if i skip all side quests and do the main story line. Don't understand how most of you beat it 40 or less during your first playthrough when there's so much error happening and having to go through every little bit of detail to find all the good stuff.

Considering the fact that most RPG's these days require you to grind mindlessly for your character to be able to beat the next boss? thats 10%gameplay, 90%grinding.

I Agree with the first Poster, cause the first time i played it trough i only needed 26 hours the second time, it were 31 hours, because i wanted to see all side quests. So in 57 Hours i have unlocked execpt of 5 archivments all other archivments, have read all Codex entrys and seen allmost every possble Ending.

Sorry if my english isnt the best.

I played around 20 games this year, and I think DA had the most playtime except maybe for Anno and Romance of the three kingdoms. My first run was around 100 hours I think, doing everything and seeing everything.
Even if you skip generic side quests like fetching plants and such, you easilly find yourself with around 50-60 hours. It is fairly decent compared to other recent RPGs like Risen and DrakenSang.

EDIT: Actually scratch DrakenSang because it had 60+ hours for 30$ only.

i agree with OP this felt way too short. 20-30hours for a game is great nowadays in general, but an impressive RPG like this, i want to be playing for atleast 60-80hours with a buttload of sidequests left

I agree, way to short. I mean, digging myself into all the lore in the codexes and having a fairly thorough playthrough on my first character, I'm well over 50+ hours, with more yet to go. But you are right, it is still too short.

More DLC please*.

* I really hope that gets some anti-DLC trolls' panties in a bunch, because we don't have enough of their threads yet.

That is crazy, it took me at least 50 hours to get through half the game. To be honest I never skipped dialogue and I read every entry in the codex.

Dragon Age is definitely not a short game.

My standard is that I want to pay $1 per hour of gameplay. That includes multiple plays and any online play. I'm 40 hours in now and I'd assume about halfway through main story line. Plus I plan on playing it at least a 2nd time, so will definitely get my moneys worth out of it.

TBH I was expecting more of a twist that would cause a major turn of events. The plot is just a bit too direct.  Maybe in the sequel...

Geez, I wonder how people playing COD4 feel when their $60 gets them 5 hours of content....Yes, I realize the differences between an FPS and an RPG, but the overall value for the dollar here is outstanding and you can even get this game now for $39.

I don't know how you are playing the game, and I am by no means finished, but the length for me is tracking very well. From the stats screen I see I have played for 40 hours and am 40% the way through. I doubt it will continue to track like that, but if it did, it wold be a 100 hour game. If I get 60 or more I will be more than well satisfied. However, I don't blow through the main quests either. I take on every side quest that is reasonable to do. This adds a tremendous amount of time. Of course I also spend god knows how much time in inventory management.

All that said, and one doesn't want games they enjoy to end. I don't think this game is as good as other much older RPG's, but I do still think it is quite good. I also think it offers tremendous value for the dollar with the length as mentioned tracking very nicely.

maj Gant, you do realise people still play COD4 online?

I doubt 100.000's will play DAO in two years.

Time is a incredibly silly gauge to use for this kind of comparison. The point is to tell a story, not tell a story across 60 hours.

However, it is too short, simply because there is a huge story imbalance between the assembling of the cast and the finale. In that there is not much going on between. Hell, depending on what area you do last you could easily be level 15+, mere hours from the end game, and just finally unlocking a specialization you can't build up to max anymore or gaining a new character. They needed more fill in between the Landsmeet and taking on the horde.

Raxtoren: This game has a toolset. NWN had very long legs because of this. I gaurantee a lot of people will be playing this in two years. (Oblivion and Fallout 3 have toolsets too, and they are still being actively played as well.)

"This Game is Too Short" is an opinionated statement.

That being said, you are wrong.
