It isn't realistic to put female Shepard in the role she is in.

Evolution is not sexist... evolution acknowledges that males shouldn't be equal to females and vice versa ... a fact opposite to current trends in society.

Wait... how is that not sexist?

Sexism is discrimination. Nature does not discriminate males and females. It assigns them two completely different roles... sexism begins when one of the sides begins to consider it's own role to be less important than the other side's role or the other way around.

Interesting. Still, I hope you fully upgraded your flame shield in the tech lab, Mr. Kusy.

When you're on Therum, Wrex says "Only a fool punches a nathak in the mouth", which is what he was referring to. But no, it's never quite explained what exactly one is.

Obvious troll is obvious, but for typing five whole paragraphs in a grammatically correct manner, I believe some sort of a reward is in order.

So here, OP, take my blood-soaked sanitary pad, rub it all over your face, then proceed to jump off the highest building in your immediate area. And, oh, try to land on your head.

Nice, very pleasant imagery to have burned into my subconcious to later emerge in horrific details while I'm asleep.
But seriously I agree with the general consensus of this thread that the OP is coming across as ridiculous and relying way to heavily on both 'traditional societal roles' and the notion that 'all men/women just are that way' (meaning that ideas of logic and emotion are not simple personality traits that vary from person to person but instead some kind of inherent biological trait specific to genders).

Seriously though, women absolutely can have a place in action games and war settings, especially if it's set 170 years into the future. It would be safe to assume most gender prejudices and 'traditional roles' would be gone by then. FemShep absolutley has her place in Mass Effect and I don't think her capacity to be badass and witty and logical and capable as a soldier and hero should ever be called into question due to her gender.

OP raises serious issues ignored by other posters, such as the need for armored snugglies, arranging inter-species play dates, and finding good babysitters on extremely short notice.

"...Sgt Gardner has formula in the fridge. Garrus and I should be home by 23:00hr next thursday - if at all. And if there's an emergency, Capt Anderson's cell is on the command console."

these are truly troubling...

Seeing as this thread doesn't seem to be getting locked yet...

Here in Britain I hear a court has ruled that lower driving insurance premiums for women (who are statistically safer drivers) is sex discrimination. Accordingly, all insurance companies will now have to charge women the same as they charge men. A bunch of feminists apparently protested against this in London. Humourless LOL! That is why they're called feminists, people.

You know, Mr. Kusycakes, if we obeyed our biology we'd all be poo-hurling rapists.

Society's evolutionary purpose is to make up for our biology's shortcomings.

I'm a feminist, and I believe that the court was right.

The protestors are just greedy little pricks who don't want to part with their hard-earned green.

Sadly, I believe OP is female. I've heard other women make similar arguments against having a female president.

I also believe OP should probably get off the interwebs and go get Billy Bob another beer before he smacks her a good one.

Loud Feminists do not fight for equal rights for men and women. They fight for additionall rights for women while keeping all the things they gain from patriarchal society.

OP, if you are still even reading this silly thread you created, you fail. I believe you should crawl back into your time machine and go home, because the 16th century misses you.

Women gamers are the next rung on the evolutionary scale, and we eat trolls for breakfast...with ketchup.

A disturbing, sad and unpleasant analysis.... sadly enough there's a probably a reasonable sum of truth to it as well.

Though admittedly I've never felt the urge in my biology to do either of those things... ever.

The human race has come a fair bit of a way over the ages.... still, we have a long, long.... long ways to go.

I also object to the reason why Bioware added female shepard to the series, personally I feel as though it is fan service to the male gamers in the audiance.  It seems to me that people glorify her as a sex trophy, as respect her for the role Bioware put her in.

I for one never "glorified FemShep as a sex trophy" and I am a male who is playing a FemShep.

They put FemShep on the box because she is a great character. And both genders like having a female character who isn't your cookie cutter PRG fanservice female character. The fact that she is so popular (and seems to be more popular than MaleShep) is a direct result of that, it has nothing to do with her breasts. And don't you dare compare FemShep to DA2's Isabela! They are NOTHING alike.

Gosh not even that a**hole admiral in ME1 who wanted to inspect your ship when you returned to the Citadel ragged on Shep for being a woman, and that was about the only thing he didn't complain about.

correction: the fangirls on bsn (who make up around 90% of
the forum) play as femshep, however the sane average Joe plays manshep most
likely due to the voice actor not having an orgasm whenever speaking

DO I NEED TO EDUCATE YOU ALL ON PROPER FEMINISM?

THE ONES WHO REALLY SUPPORT THE MOVEMENT REALLY DO BELIEVE IN EQUALITY OF THE SEXES. THE REST ARE IDIOTS AND JUST AS SEXIST AS THE REST.

LOOK I'M TYPING IN CAPS SO YOU CAN'T MISS IT.

To also have women aboard
ships presents various privacy problems, what if Kaiden set up a video
camera and watched female shepard as she showered? That has been done
before on US boats.  If i was a guy, I would feel sexually threatened if
my squadmate/bunkmate where to be a female. I would not want to invade
her privacy or do something to hurt her.

What about homosexual or bisexual people?

And it's a game, and I actually enjoy playing with female characters... most of them are ice queens, sadistic ****es, or they have an incredible apetite for sex, but it's fun.

thanks - was hunting unsucessfully for a def (and proper spelling) - I did read something on it somewhere - it was a huge wolf-like creature that the devs considered early and dropped - cant find the ref
