 Hey all,

I played ME1 on my Windows XP with no problems. I got a brand new laptop (Windows 7 64-bit, Intel GPU HD3000, 8gb of RAM) and its really nice, works every game I have tried. I installed ME1 to play it and it runs beautifully... until I hit escape to save the game or leave it. It just freezes. Yes, I have patched the game and updated my drivers and everything.

Any ideas?

Brand new doesn't mean good. You have an Intel HD instead of a dedicated GPU so you don't meet the minimum system requirements.

Actually, this is the only game I've tried that I haven't been able to play at max settings, and I've tried much more modern games.

And this runs beautifully, until I hit escape to go to the menu. Then it crashes

Intel graphics chipsets are not supported, thats the reason why it crashes.
There is a thread floating around on how you might be able to tweak the drivers and game so it works, but dont expect anything decent in terms of video quality or framerates.

It is always a total waste to pretend you can compare any game to another that doesn't share the same game engine, and it is also true that some new people simply have no idea what "runs well" means. TTBOMK, no high intensity 3D games can EVER do that while only equipped with Intel video.

Interesting. Most of my games have worked well, but you are right in saying that does not mean all will. I'm going to have to look into this deeper, perhaps even get a dependent graphics card put in... If that is even possible. I am not a laptop expert....

Modern laptops have designed-in disposability, not long life. In order to sell cheaply, they are made cheaply. Attempting to "open" them destroys at least the chassis, if not both chassis and mainboard.

Want to explain to me then why I'm able to run Dragon Age II just fine, but can't get past my meeting with the illusive man without a crash after pressing "escape"? Figure that one out, *explitive deleted by Moderator*.

1) Insulting the free help here isnt going to win you any friends, nor will it get you any help.
2) This is the ME1 Tech Support forum, and ME1 does not have any such creature as "the illusive man". Try posting in the ME2 forum.
3) You have not given any specs that would help us troubleshoot the problem.
4) We dont care if your machine can run DA2 fine, as DA2 has NOTHING to do with any of the ME games. It runs on a completely different engine, and as such, has completely different requirements.
5) I think I speak for many of the tech support people when I say, I would rather be a smartarse, than a dumbarse. Dont like tha attitude here, then sod off and go to EA support.

We don't get paid to deal with your complaining jackass. If you want to deal with tech support who get paid to put up with it then by all means pop along to EA support.

We all purchased the games. Many of us have problems with PC games it comes with the territory. If you don't know what you are doing then stick to a nice plug and play console.

And those other people who have problems and come on here are very polite when asking for help., Complaining hasn't got you very far with getting to continue your game huh.

Let's clean it up, people and avoid the negativism and name calling.

If you need assistance with your game, you can discuss here in these forums with fellow community member in a civil manner; just remember that those who are trying to help are follow community members, not EA or BioWare support staff.

These forums are intended as self-help support, not official support.
