I just purchased and brand new and sealed copy of the Ultimate edition a few days ago.

All the DLC installed fine ( minus the well known ostagar problem).  However i get an error every single time i try to install Awakenings.  I get the error code  8001002B around 99% into installation.

Now before you ask, ive done everything i can think off, be it enter the PS3 safe mode and reset the filesystem etc etc, and ive also tried the disk in another ps3 and again it fails at 99% so it cannot be my PS3.

Im litterally out of the live chat with support whom stated they cant do a thing about the awakenings DLC and will forward the issue to the development department, and advised me to post my problems here.

So here i am.

According to Google, that's usually a "dirty disc" error.  Did you happen to smudge it up with fingerprints?   I guess it's possible that your blu-ray lens may be dirty, though 2 PS3 displaying identicle symptoms makes that a slight stretch.  (Could try hitting it with a blu-ray lens cleaner, just to eliminate that off the list.)

Beyond that, I'd suggest seeing if the retailer you bought it from would exchange it for another copy.  Sounds like it could be the disc itself.

Cleaned the disk completely and did a lens cleaner, no dice, still errors at 99%.

Im at my wits end, the problem Dragon Age has had in term of DLC is shocking lol.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's the disc itself. Hopefully the retailer will do an exchange without too much hassle.

Just back from the shop, no joy, they will not accept a game after it has been opened from its shrink wrap as they cannot sell it again. Im tempted to just trade it in and count my losses.

From here, it looks like most of the game is still playable (I can see achievements and characters uploaded to your profile for the PS3 version), just Awakening won't install/play.  You could keep it and just scratch Awakening off as a loss.  Your call on that one. (I wouldn't recommend buying Awakening off the PSN.  It was $40 USD last I looked, which is more than a new copy of the Ultimate Edition.)

To me, it sounds like the disc has bad sectors.  I'm rather surprised the store wouldn't do a return/exchange on the grounds of the disc essentially being defective.  I dunno if EA can/will do anything here, but you could keep trying them.  I really dunno what else to tell ya.

Well, EA have offered to give me a replacement disk, if i pay for the postage etc etc. Decided against it and ill just skip Awakening for a while, its currently £15.99 so not THAT bad, but im still annoyed over the seeming lack of quality control over the game.
