Hi, I am currently did a playthough of Mass Effect 1 with a female character and I chose Liara as my romance option, now playing Mass Effect 2 with my ME1 save. I was wondering what would happen if I romanced a character that isn't Liara (Cannot romance her anyway). What type of impacts does it do to Liara?, and is it possible to keep her "interested" in my character like it was before the other romance?

Thanks.

I some how missed your post and just asked nearly the same thing hah, whoops. I know if you have Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC Liara will bring up the character you're romancing a few times in conversation.

I'd also like to know whether or not you can keep her interested though, so hopefully some kind soul comes along with all the answers :P

As I understand it, yes, you can rekindle your romance with Liara at the end of "Lair of the Shadow Broker" regardless of whether you've romanced a different character in Mass Effect 2 (I rekindled it, but I didn't get involved with anyone else in the meantime.)

From what I've seen/read, if your character has taken up with someone else in ME2, Liara will comment on it and Shepard will have the option of either telling Liara s/he is with the other person now, or telling her, "I wanna be with you." NOTE: rekindling your romance with Liara depends on hitting a paragon interrupt after the final boss battle of LOTSB, so keep an eye out for that and keep your fingers ready.

I don't think it's currently known what effect it will have if you rekindle the romance and then continue cheating on her (such as if you do LOTSB before the suicide mission, rekindle Liara's romance, and then continue your ME2 romance). I also don't know if having cheated on her and getting back with her will play out any differently in ME3 than staying faithful to her will. I haven't read the leaked script, which is not final in any case.

Hope this helps a little bit!

Is it possible to romance Liara in LotSB if you didn't romance her in ME1?

What harm is there in asking? In my own case I'd like to know what outcomes are available depending on the different choices one can make, rather than having to reload a save or replay the DLC over and over to try different paths with the same character.

Because knowing in advance ruins the surprise, you may as well be replaying it.

I've played the DLC at least six times, once with a character romancing Liara, but never with a character that was in multiple romances. As fun as the game is, I'd rather not spend another couple of hours doing the same mission just to see what possible repercussions there are. I'd like to aim for a specific outcome, but I'm unsure whether or not it's even compatible with my playthrough so far.

That is why I'm asking. Not because I want to ruin the game for myself, but because I've already played it to the point of tediosity, and I'd simply like to get through this final playthrough quick so I'll face some interesting romantic dilemmas in the third.

No, I'm just about certain you can only rekindle a pre-existing romance.

I think I read somewhere a while back that BioWare had said some characters in ME3 could be romanced if you hadn't romanced them in the first two games, but I don't know if that's a definite thing or which characters they would be. If you want to have a romance with Liara, start it in ME1 to be safe. Posted Image
