Weird. The validation seems to have fixed the issue. Though, did my Uninstall button ever show? I'm not sure.

Also my computer's sound locked up and I had to hard restart to fix the problem. Not sure if anyone else had that ish. But I played with a little slowdown .. .and I've overtasked my videocard often just because I'm sadistic like that... so that sounds normal.

So...not only I paid $30 for something that doesn't work...but I overpaid $15...

I knew I should had bought it in Amazon...it was only $2 cheaper but at least I would be playing now.

I right-clicked the game, selected Properties, then the Local Files tab. After clicking Verify Integrity of Game Cache and waiting 15-20 minutes Steam downloaded something and then the Play button in the launcher returned.

well it should be working now - I just played for ~ 4 hours after "Validate Cache" on Steam

 I got pretty excited when I saw that the game was patching over steam, and then it faded when I realized it most likely does not address my nasty "lag" issue. (We'll see.. it's Thanksgiving and I have Skyrim, so today I'm mostly occupied!) I am very happy for everyone else who can finally play now! It IS an awesome game! =)

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. It sounds like it's working for everyone now. If not, please use Steam's "Validate Cache" functionality to get things cleaned up and that should get you up and running.

If anyone's still having trouble with the patch (on Steam or otherwise), please post here. I'll be checking this thread throughout the day.

The validation fixed my ability to Play and Configure, but not Uninstall. Not that I want to do so! but in an effort to keep the feedback current, I thought I'd mention it here.

Yup, that's all. That first line ("Downloadable content will properly authenticate once installed.") is the kicker and involves a large number of significant behind-the-scenes changes to how the DAO authentication system actually functions.

The Installation one may have a lot more words but was a actually a pretty minor change to the installer (although the bug itself was fairly serious).

And then the Performance issue was somewhere in the middle. It proved extremely difficult and time-consuming to identify, track down, and reproduce and was the primary focus of our extensive beta testing on this patch. Once we were able to gather enough data to piece together enough of the problem to finally reproduce it in-house, however, the actual fix involved tracking down and tweaking some third-party graphics libraries in our build process.

In short, patch notes are rarely a good indicator of the size of the actual problem and this patch is definitely a case in point.

@Winterice - Can you clarify what you're seeing? Steam allows you to uninstall by right-clicking and selecting "Delete Local Content". Also, within the Ultimate Edition launcher (and the base DAO/DAA launchers, for that matter), there's a Uninstall option in the lower left.

Are either of those options missing for you and, if so, which one? Or is it that, when you select one of those options, the uninstall process isn't actually running or is failing somewhere along the way.

If you could throw up some screenshots, that will help us get a clearer sense of what you're referring to. Thanks!

This mod fixes the equipment bug - just unzip and drop into your override folder, there's a list of other fixes available here.
