i have DA:O digital deluxe edition patched it to 1.05 (origin user)
now when i start the game it goes fine at first and then stops responding (playing windowed, but tried fullscreen just to be sure).

It might not be a patch issue, but can't think of anything else i have done between it working and not (have awakening and the stuff from DDE, no other DLC).

edit-
no idea what caused it, reinstalled and patched to 1.04 and now it works.

ATTENTION
This patch was made SOLELY to fix DLC it is essentially 1.04 with working DLC (This is why the Xbox 360 and PS3 users do not need the update as nothing else was modified). Do NOT expect to find anything else corrected. As far as the public is concerned Bioware was just fixing the DLC so people can play what they bought (gotta be playable to be sellable!); I highly doubt there will ever be another official patch. I do however believe in the community fixing the game and highly recommend that people look in the community fixit thread to remedy there issues.

Basically, Bioware knows there are other issues and have acknowledged some and that's about as far down that road as I've seen them go. Acknowledgement.

Which is absolutely terrible customer service to expect the people who payed for the game to do Bioware's job, for which we payed them.

Okay, you got it wrong. The community is not expected to, it took it on all on it's own just as I did when I wrote some fixes. I don't have to, but I felt like it.

When you buy the game I don't think you can just assume support for it. The community ASSUMES (VERY BAD IDEA) there will be support, there is no binding contract that says they have to even if they may claim to (call it lying or whatever). Although we expect more from a company we should never assume or demand that they will. Albeit should they want to increase sales they should.

Take it as a lesson of who to buy from that's all that can really be said.

Bingo.

Of course, if one purchases a game that actually doesn't work on a system that meets requirements because of known/verifiable bugs, you are entitled to return it to where you purchased it.  Any documentation or agreements that come with a game do not cancel your statutory rights.  At least, not in any country I've lived in.

Returned software that elicits a refund would send an even better message than simply not buying more.  This can be difficult with games where the term "defective" may not always be clear cut.  Personally, I've never had a problem with Amazon UK regarding returns as long as I do so within the stipulated time frame.  My general rule of thumb is that if there is a game breaking/crashing bug that needs a patch (whether or not there is one), I send it back.  If there are patches that improve or correct certain game issues, I may stick with it.

There should be a thread announcing this patch on the Dragon Age: Origins News and Announcement thread.

I've got DA:O "Deluxe Edition" downloaded from Amazon.com. Was doing fine with it until I downloaded the 1.05 patch, now there doesnt appear to be a way for me to start it. Only got the patch so I could use the Witch Hunt expansion. I've very annoyed. I can see from above that BioWare was dealing with this issue 3 weeks ago. Has some fix been posted that wasn't obvious on the patch download page?

Please try the stickies first:-

http://social.biowar...8/index/7280573 "read first" for a reason!

http://social.biowar...8/index/6265850 lots of solutions for a wide range of problems.

http://social.biowar.../58/index/81613 various DLC issues.

http://social.biowar...8/index/5151520 more DLC issues, especially for Ultimate Edition users.

Then try a fresh post/thread of your own.

Failing that http://social.biowar.../58/index/87251 explains where official support can be found.

Help others to help you. After all, this forum you are in now is user-to-user help. You will see very little from EA/Bioware here.

mine runs fine or at least loads fine, win7 64bit, no fix for the memory leak, stutter, lag, ctd etc... that i have gone through since day 1, wonderful...

i even upgraded my graphics card, and that fixed every other game but this one, this game has no excuse to run like crap on my machine and it still runs like crap. i have 2 gigs of video memory now is that not enough for this memory hog. i'm not even running this thing on max settings to high graphics makes the game to dark.

AA is on 2x i think textures are high. this thing is an ever present thorn in my side and i curse my obsession to fix it. got that on my dad's side.

It seemed that this update broke my DA:O. I now have the "No words, no text. Empty Menu in game." problem.
I am having this problem today. I did not have it yesterday.  The only change I am aware of is an update via Steam. I do not have any other version or flavor of DA or DA2 except DA:0
I tried video changes, but solved this by using the Steam detect and repair.

I downloaded DA:O Ultimate Edition from EA origin but I was having issues with the DLCs remaining unauthorized. Nevertheless, the game was atleast running. I tried numerous fixes listed here but still couldn't get the dlcs authorized. So I ended up installing the 1.05 patch which solved the dlc authorization problem. Now I have a new problem: crash to desktop which happens when I click on New Game /resume game. I just can't seem to get past the loading screen.

Below is my config:

Intel Core i5 2500K
Win 7 64Bit Ultimate SP1
Palit GTX570 with 285.62 driver installed
Logitech G35 headset
Corsair 8GB RAM
500GB + 1TB hard disk

Please take a look at the stickies first. While there's some info you've provided there, more would be better. E.g. Retail disc or digital download? There are several options on this very page, like one or two of the links in my post above. Also, seperate fresh threads (after checking the stickies) should get better results than just adding to the pile in here.

Maybe the number of cores assigned (affinity) issue is relevent to you, for example. Though if it worked okay before hand, maybe not. A file got corrupted? Use "Detect and Repair" as above? Lots of possibilities. You need to do more research.

Amd processor dual core 5200+

9800 GT Nvida graphic's card.

As I stated before I have many mods mostly cosmetics but It worked great before the patch and now nothing.

Bioware could you please give a link to download patch 1.04. You don't have it anymore and since many mods I believe are not working with the 1.05 patch could you accommodate us with placing the 1.04 patch for us to download. I hate to trust a 3rd party site.

Hope you get lucky and get a response from them.  Some 3rd party file hosts must be reputable, though I am not sure which are which.

Maybe Bioware will be better than EA who are still pushing 1.03 on https://help.ea.com/...-age-origins-pc.  Though a lazy link does point to http://social.biowar...page/da-patches the top of the EA page does claim that 1.03 is the latest patch.

FYI - I have the disc version of DA:O was running fine on a i7 laptop with an nVidia 555 GPU. There were a few lags here and there so I decided to try the update and found my shortcut in GAMES no longer worked. When I clicked it nothing happened, no game launch screen, nothing. Again, game worked fine before patch I only patched hoping the game would recognize the my graphics card.

WHAT DOES WORK is to right click on the shortcut and select Run With Graphics Processor and select your graphics card. I think this problem might only show up in a select few instances (laptop, nVidea, whatever) but hopefully this might help some people get going again.

Rule of Thumb: If it ain't broke, don't patch it!

I find that hard to believe.  What are the items?  And how are you trying to install them?

If you want to troubleshoot, I suggest creating a new thread... it will be more visable and more people can help you.  Also, please consult the "READ FIRST" sticky.

Memory, CTD and import/export issues still not fixed. Will there even be a new patch adressing some of the highly important bugs?

social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/7137421/3#7215629

^ Why did I even post most of them if they are... acknowledged, but apparently ignored? 9 months are enough time to deal with crucial bugs, no?

Edit: Yeah, I'm trying 1.05 atm. So far no CTD issues. Seems to be fixed! However, import/export issues are still crucial!

I'm not sure. Personally, myself any friends I know with DA:O no longer have any significant issues since 1.05 with at least the the "memory"/ctd issues, except for a few quibbles with Denerim. We're mainly annoyed with the amount of in-game issues still around.
