You could read the patch page, which is one click away from the page you are on. Look at the the menu options near the top, under games. Games --> Dragon Age Origins --> Game Patches. http://social.biowar...page/da-patches

I just downloaded the patch and now I can't run Origins. It won't open from the shortcut or the startmenu. Help?
It does work if I go in throught program files(x86) and select the launcher from there.

You are off topic here. The correct subject matter is strictly patch 1.05 here, not Valve's peripatetic marketing scheme. The correct forum is called "Off Topic". Meanwhile, set Steam to OFFLINE.

I just downloaded DAO Ultimate Edition through EA Origin. The daorigins.exe file is version 1.04. I tried restarting my pc and restarting EA Origin, but it doesn't seem to update to 1.05. Anyone experiencing the same? I thought EA Origin was supposed to keep games updated with the latest patches?

Posté 14 février 2012 - 10:58
It, like Steam, is indeed supposed to do that. Perhaps you have accidentally disabled automatic updating?

The 1.05 patch isn't being pushed out automatically. (Well, maybe on Steam. Can't say what's going on there...) Notice that it isn't even advertised on the splash screen at start-up.
It contains only fixes for a couple of very specifc issues: getting DLC authorized for some players who were having problems, (Xongo, this might be for you) and increasing area load times for players (like me) with DX10 video cards.
So if you want it you have to get it manually at: social.bioware.com/page/da-patches

Aha, well my DLCs were not authorized. Downloading 1.05 manually and installing it fixed that. I just think its strange that it's not installed automatically through EA Origin (or Steam for that matter). Regardless of how "specific" that error is, it _did_ cause problems for me that would have been sorted by an automatic update.

Steam definitely *can* be made to automatically make updates available. With Origin, unlike Steam, I rely on 2nd hand info, sorry. I don't like either, but then I'm old fashioned.

Well, I've never posted before (long time lurker), but this info may save someone else a lot of confusion and headache later.
I have the Steam version of the Ultimate Edition. I've had it since Christmas 2010, and it's been installed on my system for over a year. I never received the patch 1.05 update, despite my game being set to automatically update. (All other games update just fine, too). I didn't even know there was a new patch until I recently got a hankering to play again, and found this forum post.
Anyway, long story short: Steam appears to NOT be pushing out this patch and, therefore, anyone in my situation has no way of updating the game because you cannot manually patch the Steam version.
Longer version: I tried to manually patch it. Of course, it threw an error saying Steam versions can't be patched that way and have to be updated via Steam. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game (which led to more DLC unauthorized fun than I'd have thought). I tried installing it on another system. I verified the game cache several times. None of this worked. It would not update.
It seems several Steam users, on here as well as the Steam forums, say they did receive the new patch a few months ago. However, a few others in an unrelated thread over on the Steam forums recently confirmed that (like myself) they never received it and could not update.
I contacted Steam support. After a week, they told me to uninstall and reinstall. Didn't work, of course. Then they told me to contact EA support instead. I did. Of course, EA support gave me the generic updating instructions for non-Steam versions, and then never replied when I reminded them that I have the Steam version and therefore cannot manually update. I went back to Steam support yesterday, and today they came back with this:
"The most recent update for this game from Steam is from March of 2010.
Updates for Steam games are provided by the publisher.
Unfortunately we are unable to provide further assistance with this update."
Strange, considering all the Steam users (and official BioWare post here) that state the patch was pushed out a few months ago. Anyway, it looks like those of us who never received it and use Steam are now stuck at 1.04.

You can patch the Origin version, and you can add the DAO:UE key from Steam to Origin. But unless you use Origin already, its kind of annoying to have to install it.
Yeah, the whole thing is just silly, _especially_ considering that UE comes complete with the unauthorized addons.

Yeah... I don't have Origin nor have the need to use it for anything else, and all my PC games are in Steam.
I honestly consider myself lucky; I was having a LOT of issues with unauthorized DLC, but (after hours of frustration/confusion) I was able to fix them myself thanks to the super helpful stickies in this forum. But there were some Steam forum members who -- for whatever reason -- weren't so lucky, and this patch would have supposedly helped them a great deal or avoided these problems altogether, if only they'd been able to receive the update.

Well i actually never had issues with the DLC content, at all. But i had severe crashing issues with 1.04. Now with 1.05 it seems to be better. I played for 7 hours and no crash at all. I was so happy that it seems that DA:O is playable again, i started to play one of the DLC: Golems of Agmarrakk.
After a short period of time i ended up frustrated again. I was in a huge fight with 8 Golems or so and i had to "pause" and "resume" the game constantly due to the difficulty of the fight. The game crashed almost every time when i try to manage the fight.
I tried several options like changing the affinity of the cpu .. like using one core or something.
all my drivers are up2date
Win7/64
GTX275
phenom II x3 3,1ghz
8gig ram

I guess I'll stick with 1.04, which works for me. Better to remember that old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Presume you mean "Latin" rather than "Cyrillic" characters, which are equally "correct".Gorath Alpha wrote...

(And remember that the word "alphabet" itself is just the Anglicized version of the Roman transliteration of "α" and "β", the first two characters of the Greek's system.)
But I just use the "Report" button and cite it as "Broken or Corrupt Content" when I run into that sort of thing...

GOD HELP ME.
Maybe I got some attention now, Bioware.
Bought the Ultimate edition 2 days ago, got to play it when finished downloading.
Decided to download ALL the DLC's and all of a sudden I have to register the CD-key, again. And of course it's already used, the stupid 1.05 patch is NOT working
Launching the game trough Origins, NOT working
so do please help.

This forum is not a channel to EA Help. Bioware doesn't monitor the forum as a normal routine for the place. There was just so very much wrong with DA:O's entire DLC package that they had to issue the one last patch, after all.Thrallkev wrote...

EA Help links to the forum at the bottom center of the page. It is now renamed to "Bioware Support" in the link.

Still have not fixed half the bugs, like the Elven Boots etc.
Plus, there is a new bug. The Game Explorer Icon (the games folder in Windows 7) no longer works. The box art is still there, but it does not open the game. Right clicking does not display a list. I looked in the registry, it is still fine. The GameExplorer shortcuts are still there. It therefore must be a file in the patch that is corrupted and no longer displaying the information. New patch now.
Cannot revert back as I am one of those who would experience DLC issues.

Adding my own bit to this.
My Steam version is also not updating from 1.04, would really like the 1.05 one for Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition so I won't have to put up with the DLC verification mess.
I tried the verify cache and everything short of uninstalling and reinstalling.
I opened a ticket with Steam but would really appreciate an option to manually patch or copy-paste the patched files into my own directories.
